I'm a bit confused on the set up.
Is it supposed to just float back and fourth on the splines with out no circlips or nothing to hold it steady? I read the manual and it seems to be, but just wanted to make sure.
In other words you just slide it on and the caliper itself keeps it in alignment...is that so?
I took it apart but who's to say something isn't missing from the trike wrecker that had it before me.

Yes. The disc on the most of the YTMs and YTs just floats on the axel. Nothinng "locks" it down.

This is great, everyday I work on my DX & run into a question, I just go look for Huffa's last post or two & usually find what I'm looking for. lol. Looks like we're progressing @ the same pace. I was checking out my rotor yesterday & was wondering the same thing. Mine doesn't float though, it's siezed right where it is on the axle. Might just leave it there until it has to come off. (One way or the other)

I do ask alot, don't I :D ...........and I'm only 60-70% done with the thing so there will be a lot more to come.
Also - Thanks Louis, now it won't be on my mind all day tomorrow and I can think of the next ? to ask!
Oh, 350X.......just wait till you meet me, I'll literally wear you out with questions on your machines. Ya can never, ever know too much.
Still have that 350X skid plate. Guess you don't need it but if you bang yours up then the price goes up to 20 instead of 15 because I know you need one! :D
BTW - I won a really nice 225 frame on ebay for 10 lousy bucks. I'm going to pick it up I imagine so I don't have to pay the 50 shipping. Don't need a frame but for $10, why not?

Same here! I mean it was that way.
 no taking shortcuts now! It has to float or I believe you'll wear the inner or outer pad out.

I got one better than that, someone came to my place, brought the frame and left it for free! hehehehee!

They left it for free but what's missing out of your garage now ? :D
Speaking of frames, any 200S jobs around?
Ya know it's strange, there are a gazillion parts on ebay for those S's all the time but I have never seen a frame yet. :wondering
I never realized how many S's are out there! They are everywhere yet!

You are right about the short cuts Huffa, but I was worried about bending the rotor trying to get it off. The brakes work fine the way they are (no drag or squealing) & so far I've been just fixing it up good enough to be reliable, but the last few days I've been thinking about just ripping her right down to the frame & starting from scratch. It is a good bike & probably deserves it.

WOWZA !!!!!!!! Thats great news, Howdy!
The frame would be for MX 600. He has one at the moment and is ready to paint it BUT the bottom lower portion where skid plate attaches in front is GONE! The tubular part is there but the plating is gone and he must have a plate rewelded on + have some of the rusted out tubing fixed up.
Only problem is shipping from Ohio. Maybe I can put my part "hitch hike" idea into operation here?
Man, they should start a new forum for that, I just know it would be of great use to us. What the heck do they have to lose? Does it cost much for them to add a forum or what? I don't know a thing as far as that goes.
How much you want for them and what kind of shape are they in?
Thanks BIG TIME ! :beer
Getting back to the 225.......The rotor - brake covers. I really don't even see a reason for them? Most other trikes don't have them. Seems like all they do is hold dirt in since they aren't sealed.

That one was truely a freebie.... He had it on the boards for awhile, noone wanted it or wanted to pay shipping on it. I got a set of 200E rear fenders too! The plastic is cracked, but I needed something to test plastic refurbishing and also needed the mudflaps, hardware off it. Also a good seatpan!
I do have a few 200X frames.... and an old 3Wheeling mag with a nice 3 page article on how to make an "Auto-X" buy putting the 200S motor in a 200X.
I asked someone about those rotor covers and seems like there's some reason they need to stay on... I haven't got that far yet! When I got 3 running Honda's in the shop, the Yamaha's get a lil neglected on the priority list! ahhaah
