I just got an 84 Big Red from my mom's neighbor. It used to be my dad's, but he never used it (my mom used to use it as an anchor to tie goats to), so they gave it away. In the past 15 years it has had about 20 miles put on it, if that.
It's been sitting out in the nasty Pacific Northwest weather for God knows how long.

When I picked it up it was (still is) in pretty sad shape. At least now it can move under its own power :)

When I was a kid we had a pair of 185s that we used a lot because of where we lived. I remember the "Big Red" was a huge powerful machine. Now that I'm an adult this thing looks so small and insignificant.

welcome to 3 WW. With a little TLC she'll be good as new.

Check the frame.. specially the underside of it.. make sure the tubes are still solid.

I'm willing to bet they need some re-inforcing ! And if they do, don't ride it hard until you fix it up.

welcome aboard !

Robert

I just picked up a 84 Big Red parts trike because it was a good deal. It is missing the handlebars, the lights, and the motor is not all there. Only one tire holds air. It does have good OEM plastic, and the suspension seems to be complete. It has the honda racks, and the front one looks to be almost perfect. IMHO it is not worth reviving. My plan is to disassemble it, and keep all the more generic stuff (nuts, bolts, screws, ect) as stock for my other 8 trikes, as well as any other pieces I think I might be able to use.

The rest of the parts are available, If you are interested let me know. Shipping is such a hassle and high cost, I would rather the stuff go to somone local who can pick up.

Email me at ATCnut@Comcast.net if you are interested.
