if you have the cash get an aprillia gp250.
you will love it. ex250s are toads.
if no aprillia is happening get an old honda xl 250 dual sport to get some good riding experience. then you can build you bank accout until you get older.

hey I'm 15, and I would kill to get a bike at 17!!! But you might want to see what your insurance company will think BEFORE you buy, insurance is insane for teen boys (as I'm sure you know). So I am going to wait till I'm about 25 to get a street bike, thats when the insurnce comes down.
If you are really desparate make a 250cc dirtbike road legal... :TrikesOwn

In Aussyland you guys start out at 250cc? Oph harsh. I have a Yamaha 400 special and that thing is small on me (5'10", 230 lbs). If your getting a honda then you probably made the right choice.
The trick to insurance by the way is to have your parents put the insurance in their name and you pay them the money for the insurance. It works great :D

the rz's are FREAKIN INSANE!!!!!!!!! i would take it in a heart beat if my insure wouldnt be 4K a year, those things are like street legal banshee's you can port them things and do all type of **** to them and they will bring high horse numbers, honestly swear to god i saw one smoke the **** out of a early 90's GSXR750, they are fast little bikes, as for 250 i second the ninja, i have seen these bikes when "hoped-up' and i can say they scoot pretty good, i dont know if out of cali is the same way but anything under 600CC's isnt considered a sport bike and listed as a cruiser, no crap, my freind bought a ninja 500 had some motor work and stuff done to it and he will hang with a gsxr600, now i said hang not beat, but hang with...
have fun
good luck on the sell

You have to wait till your seventeen in Missouri you can get your 250- at 15 1/2. Im getting mine as soon as I find a 250cc bike to take my test on. Then I will wait till im 16 and ride my CB550.

I wish Washington had displacement limits like that, where you either can only get so big a bike at a given age or you have to pass a test on the bike you're going to ride. They did 20 years ago when my dad rode street and passed the test on his Harley but they dont anymore. We were at the dealer today picking up my CRF and you'd swear some of those guys were learning to ride in the parking lot. I saw one kid today, couldnt have been more than 16, on a sport bike that was a couple years old. His fairing was already duct taped from dropping it, and he was rolling through feet out and could hardly make a * turn. Then on the way home on the other side fo the highway we see, two guys on either R1's or R6's flying by cars, using the shoulder or what ever realestate they could find to go as fast as they could.

Why hasnt anyone mentioned the street legal honda CR250 thats available overseas? The CRM250. That'd be the coolest thing ever.
