Hi I got a 83 250r last fall that was blown up. Put a new 50 over piston in, and got it running. But I am concerned about what mixture to run. I started it out at 25:1 and talked to a local bike mechanic and he told me 32:1. So I switched to that. Took it riding this weekend and after running it awile the motor froze. After a couple of seconds, like 30, I was able to kick it and get it back to camp. I was wondering if I may be to lean on the oil, maybe overheating or what?? Thanks.

Your mixture is fine at 32:1 (if anything it's a little rich). It's your jetting that needs adjustment. Do a seach for jetting on 3WW and you'll find all kinds of good info.

Mixture depends on what kind of oil you're running. The synthetic oil I use I mix at 32:1. Some other synthetics out there can be run as lean as 50:1. If you're using a non-synthetic oil, 20:1 is a safe ratio. When our bikes were made, 20:1 was the recommended mix ratio.

So if I use crapy oil, make it 20:1 If I use good expensive oil, use 32:1. Okay. I used the crapy stuff, so that must explain why it was acting like it was runing out of oil.
