Well I have been meaning to get on here and see if anybody can help me out. I have an atc 70 that my kids been riding. My son took it into a pretty deep mud hole awhile back and since then the bike has lost accecleration and is now smoking pretty bad. I took apart the motor and everything looked good I didn't replace anything only changed the intake gaskets from the carb. I can get it running and idle just fine. The problem is when you go to accelerate the bike hesitates or sounds to almost stall out. I tried adjusting the fuel and air mixture screw on the carb but haven't had any luck. I have noticed that the exhaust is white or maybe slightly blue. I'm just trying to figure out if the problem is with the carb or with the top end. It will run in first and second but third and fourth gears it doesn't have any acceleration. I just need to see if I can fix this for a reasonable price or if I'm going to get told to sell it by my wife. She doesn't understand that it is a 1985 honda. The motor to my knowledge is stock and has never been worked on. If anyone could help me in the right direction I would greatly appreciate it. Thanks Rob

well prior to the mud hole I changed the points and gapped them. But maybe I should relook them. Thanks I'll start there.

hey,
may sound dumb, but have you checked to see if the exhaust was clogged? what about the air filter? may be clogged solid on the backside
I had a 90 as a kid that I traded away because it had the same problem, was really upset when they rode it the same day, they cleaned up the clogged exhaust
