This 86 Tri-z I picked up has needed a lot and one of the things it's needed is all new bearings in the swingarm and carrier. The carrier bearings are cheap and easy with a moose kit for $22.95. I've used the moose kits before and have had great luck with them. For the pivot bearings I also used a moose kit but from an 86 YZ250. It didn't save me much at $66.95 for the kit but it did have everything I needed. I was lucky and didn't need the main bushings that the axle bolt goes though because the kit won't help you with those. The kit did supply the inner and outer bearing (all 4 are needle bearings with the kit), and the two inner seals. The kit replaces the outer bearings that go in the end caps with a teflon coated thrust washer and a couple more washers to fill the space. Over all the kit worked great for what I needed.

Sorry 85 guys but this kit will not work for you. I discovered that the 86 YZ250 and the 86 Tri-Z shared the same bearings so I ordered the kit. When I checked for the 85's they did not cross the same. Being I didn't need them for an 85 I didn't look too deep but they may cross with a different year or model. Yamaha has a great parts look up at http://www.yamaha-motor.com/outdoor/parts/home.aspx if anyone is interested.

Why won't they work in the 85 Z? The 86 and 85 swinger are the same.

They are not the same. The 85 has bigger piviot bearings and a different link arm.
