The letter I sent my Senator regarding ATV's

I am speaking on behalf of countless Off-road motorized recreationist today. Senator Sununu, we are being driven out of our riding areas at an alarming rate! Many NH snowmobilers, and especialy ATV and dirtbikers have had enough! Trails are being taken away so fast, yet the price to register you adverage ATV in roughly $60? Trails are shrinking, and so are wide open areas. Less and less riding every year it appears. The state thinks that by giving us places to ride here and there it will solve the problem, no that just makes citizens hate us more and more. By forceing everybody into a smaller area you encounter a whole different set of problems. People complain that there is to much noise and that the enviornment is being destroyed. That makes us look bad.
It seems like the state and fedral government only make laws that prohibat and/or restrict motorized recreation. How about helping us? Or perhaps working with us? This is not just happening in our state by the way, but nation-wide. I am wondering if I will have to go to canda to ride my ATV in 10 years?
So many NH residents enjoy motrized recreation, and all of them need a voice in the government. Seems like we are getting none at all. I plead to you, please be our voice...

P.S. My local trails in Rockingham county called the RAILROAD BEDS were shrunken to about a 20 mile stretch in 2001. Before you could go practicly to Canada! Please see what you can do to re-open these trails for NH resident, I would be most greatful.

i dont have to register. i have lots of place to ride, the size and number is declining though but theres still a lot

yeah i dont register my 3 wheeler in NH, the 60 some dollars is a joke.no fish cops around in the summer to bust you in the summer. id rather chance it and pay the ticket, probly like 75bucks or something. Most times they just give you a warning and tell you to register it.

That blows for me!!!! The funny thing is how that registration money is supposed to go back into the trails, mainnence and stuff. There is NO WAY that my state puts that much of our $$$ into the trails!!! SO where's my money going?

Your money is lining the pockets of your politicians my friend. I don't really know how much registration is here in Pa. All I know is if you have one of those stickers on your ride they won't give you a hard time if your seen crossing roads or highways. Where I live now they ride up and down the roads and noone seems to care. I'm sure if you go to one of the off-road parks you'll probably have to register.

Dear DCNR:

I have owned my ATV since December 1984. It is a 1985 3-wheeled ATV.
I have yet to register it or insure it because I currently ONLY ride
on my own land and neighbor's land with whom I have written permission
to ride from. I have heard from numerous people and dealers in my
area (Clarion County) that ATV's manufactured before 1987 do not need
PA ATV registration. Could you please clear this up for me as I am
confused as to the current legislature. There must be something in
the legislature that is not published on your website - as in
something grandfathered in for People who have owned ATV's and ridden
these PA trails before this was law.

ATV's were not titled prior to March 1987. They were definitely registered.

You are granfathered in as far as you do not have to title you machine as you are the original owner from 1987.

If you are riding off of your own personal property, you need to be registered.

Registration is $20.00 for a full two-year registration.

Oh well. One of these days when I have a trike worth at least a grand then I'll worry about licensing it and all that stuff.
