What was the changes made from 85 to 86? Is there a online shop manual? Was there a key on them, I thought they came with a key but mine doesnt have one and doesnt look like it ever did.

This is the bike I just picked up: http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&rd=1,1&item=4554455834&sspagename=STRK%3AMEWA%3AIT

There are several minor differences between the 85 and the 85 350X.

A few that come to mind are:

Rear bearing carrier
Rear sprocket (used countersunk bolts to clear the 86 carrier)
Clutch cable routing
Wheels
Plastic (85 was red stock, 86 was white)
Seat graphics
switch colors in handlebar assembly (85 were black, 86 one is white and one is yellow)
tank fins (86 are cut back on the front)

That is what I can think of off of the top of my head. Search the formums here and at 3wheeler.org, there is a thread where all the differences are discussed.

The 87 350X was going to have a keyed ignition, but oh well!!!

I'm going to eventually make myself a keyed ignition, just for an added level of security, ya know.

Dont forget the oil pump system is just a hair different. Its so if you have your trike on its side and still running, it wont blow up the motor and also when doing a wheelie hehe.

I thought they went to a 6-speed tranny in '86? Just like the 200x

Take one off a newer quad and wire it in. Dont think it would be that hard to do.

The rear brakes mount up diffrently on the swingarm and carrier assembly. I think the swingarm is different also. Not much, but a little. Oh and the right side engine cover is different I think.

I was thinking of taking a dash assembly off of a 200E, and then be able to also do a choke cable setup on the 350X. Not sure if the dash would fit though, I never measured.

Why would you put a key'd ignition? if someone wants to steal it they will! its not hard to "hot wire" them, keys are more of a pain in the ass than anything specially the ones on 200m's/E's cause the igniton wears out then you get a key slopin around in there and key falls out and dies while your riding ect ect...lol...just my .02 cents/

FALSE.... many changes.... seems like we have listed this off in the past... nearly 70-80 changes if I can rememeber... I have not the time to type out the list for like the 10th time... do a search and see what you get.... might be in the "This vs That" forum....
