ok i gotta few questions about an 84 200x...

1. Can i get 300ex,400ex,450r,350x,250sx,250r rims and hubs? I know that 185s hubs and rims fit, they are on right now with a set of trail pros. I want 11-8's, maybe some 10-9's though.

2. What is the best exhaust that will add the most umph to it? dg xcellerator, krome power, rcm, alloy, cobra steel, aluminum,

3. Im cutting my rear fenders because they are all cracked up and look like ****, should I just cut straight down the crease under the seat, I kinda already started so how will it look?

4. Besides xr 200 cam and carb, what other mods can I do that I havnt mentioned? I also have a uni filter on it.

5. Will a 185s headlight work without blowing? I have the 185 light on it right now but it hasnt been ran since its been on so i havnt figured it out.

6. Can i put a 350x front end on without having to modify anything? I know I need to get a custom shock mount for the rear for a 350x.

7. If i decide to put a 125cc 2 stroker on there how much work will be required? I thouhgt about the cr125 engine.

8. I have 13-40 sprockets, is the 40 tooth rear the lowest i can go? I want the most speed out of it as possible, and be able to gear down when needed, i know thats just sprockets.

9. Which are the best tires out of these? I want something for good all around use, I go muddin alot when it rains so I dont want to get stuck, I also ride on the road alot so I dont want it to wear down very fast like alot of them do, kenda claw, razr mx or regular, holeshot xct, reg holeshots, scorpion knobbies that i can get from ebay for 68 bucks with no shipping, fast trekkers, TRAIL PRO's, lol i figured someone may get a little upset on that one, bridgestone dirthooks (DHO4) in ronnies atv catalog, turf tamers, titan bandits, Which are the best? (this will go on for awhile almost guranteed)

1. 300ex, 400ex(i think), 86-87 200x, 200s 185 110 70 blah blah are all interchangeable. 350x and 250r are not. Get the 300ex they match the bolt patterns of all mentioned as far I know.

2. What do you want out of your exhaust? sound? pretty? or performance?

3. guess since you started it, well finish it. Dunno I am not a fan of the racer cut or whatever they call it. But lots like it. Usually there is a slight lip left past the seat itsself say about 2 inches??? Someone else can chime on this one.

4. How much money you got?

5. As long as the electronic stuff is the same it should be fine.

6. no, you will need to modify.

7. Same amount as putting 350x suspension on. You need fabricating skills. A good imagination, and a single strong willed goal. If you have it you can accomplish it.

8. dunno smallest sprockets never looked.

9. Oh Ill let all the opinions answer this one. Tires are like guys choices in women, some like blondes, some like brunettes, and then there are those that love the redheads!

lol jenn thanks...you answered a couple...heres some answeres to your ?'s

2. i want all of the above..but mosly sound and performance
3. i finished it..i used a drill and a really big drill bit..lol..looks like **** but it looks better than it did...no lip past the seat..but i did do something that pissed me off alot! i set my light on the seat..a 75 watt bulb without the cover..i forgot about that...yea needles to say im pissed cause i have a hole in my oem honda 200x seat cover...it did look brand freakin new..not now...
4. not much but i could care less about prices
6-7. yea i figured..i can fab but i dont got the tools and schools out so not till next year i guess
9. dont worry jenn i like them all...lol..all those tires i picked i liked..if everyone jumped on sayin razr's! razr's! id prolly say mudzillas..lol

You will need to to decide between an x or an r (125 engine) Then I would concentrate from there. Each of those engines, have their own unique characterastics (SP?), that certian things like pipe, and tires would really effect it. Does this make sense? In other words if you want to make a 125, I would not buy the pipe and other performance for the 200 x. I would concentrate on just the 125.

Once you plot your course, then the answers literally fall into your lap. If you want a comparison between the 2 well that would be slightly different.

Mine is a fairly simple trike

I gave it all internal xr200r
Raising compression by just useing xr parts. And gave it 6 speed. Engine wise that is it for now. I relowered compression by giving it a decompression release, but I still need to kink on that some more. It decompresses too much. This was to save my kicker mostly.
I have the 2 over westcoast swinger, and the blue duros, mostly for vanity and I have the dg excellerator exhaust, which via ebay did cheaper then new. It looks nice, it sounds nice and mean. And it was cheap. I am running the stock carb right now with a 38 slow, 110 main, normal everything else. That will change after breakin. The trike indicates slightly rich. I had a fulley inclosed airbox, which the trike didnt like to idle so we had to pull the lid. We just got clutch, finally working yesterday it looks like, so as far as how she runs I dont know yet. Here is a nice pict of the pipe so you can see. I did alot of major cosmetic work. My goal was extremely simple, not to build the best or fastest, It was what can I build for the least amount of money. I am sitting at, currently $550 I think totally rebuilt. Price went up significantly with the westcoast swinger.

You just have to set your goal.

yea i saw that pipe on ebay for 180 bin...they are like 300 somethin brand new i was like..wow im gonna get that...and then i i woke up then next day with the money in hand to get a m.o...it was gone..i bet it was *! lol..its cool tho..how did you get a 6speed tranny in a 5 speed engine? i have the stock carb runnin 40 slow 110 main..i dunno y but the 185 ran great with a 40 so i figured id try it.. ive got one of those decompression valve covers...i just dont want to rip apart the engine again cause my stator is on its way and then i can ride...the 125 2 stroke just popped into my head so i figured id give that a shot someday..not any time soon..and about that valve cover..did it fit ok? cause it look like they wont line up right..ive tried it before but i never tried starting the machine cause i knew it wouldnt..stator was bad on that one too...anyway..it looks like it might but i wasnt really sure..but the decomp helped

if i can find one of those 35 tooth sprockets ill be really happy and really fast! then get a pipe with good acceleration to make up for the speed/ torque ratio deal...that would be sweet!

He ran a series of them on ebay. It looks like tho he is out. I took the last one. I watched 3 close in a matter of days. After one sold first day out I bought the next one. I used the xr engine and basically shoved into a 200x cases. My xr seems to be ok with the 38 but I am not sure yet. Jetting will come after breakin.

The cases for 200x and xr are the same. Insides or guts are not.

All the topends for the 185 and 200's except the 86-87 interchange across the board. One thing tho is for each cylinder you use, use its piston unless you want to bore for the right ones. Each of the pistons are slightly different.

All of the heads are the same. Cams are slightly different for xr, and others. But your 200's (again except the 86-87) are all the same accross the board.

The 83-85 200x for whatever weird reason head cover did not come with decompression. As far I know it is the only one that didnt have it. But the other covers will fit, but you have to use the corresponding rockers or it will give you fits. Also If you use a 200x bottom end for forward kick you can only use manual decompression. Or figure out a way to drill your case cover. Which I didnt see a way.

I am sure I am forgetting something.

thats cool..sop your sayin if i just stick a 185s valve cover on it it will work? and if i get the xr gears and stick them in there it WILL fit?? thats cool...id like to do that...but i gotta find one first..and figure out how to put the gears back together...lol...ill figure somethin out but not yet..im goin to wait till somthin breaks..lol then do it

Is the 185 valve cover auto or manual decompression?? Look at a 200es cover it is manual.

And yes that is what I am saying. It is little more complicated, but then nah it isnt. Dont take shortcuts.

Sprocket Specialist make rear sprockets 33-45 and fronts 11-14 for the 83-85 200X.

Dennis Kirk has some of the best deals on tires, I run 20" turftamers in the summer with 13/38 gearing and 22" mud busters(wooly booger style tread) in the winter with stock gearing (you can use the same chain with both gearing set-ups)

The mud buster tires are $38 ea. and the turftamers are about $50 each. Orders over $100 ship free otherwise everything ships for $6......can't beat that!

yea jenn its manual...thats cool then..save my kicker and my ankle..

haywood..i was just readin somethin on sprocket specialists..thats awesome...

if i had the money id get it powrolled!!! cause you can get the xr200 kit for it..the crank adds 30% hp and the piston adds another 20%...thats alot...addin half of what you have already to it..dam..thats like 22-27 hp out of a 200 4 stroke...thats not including the cam or the valves or some other stuff..that would be awesome

bump : weird..i figured some more people would chime in on this..ive got some plans right now..im getting a pipe and new rear fenders that arent all cracked up..lol..not brand new but it will look better..right now i dont have the money to get all new stuff...besides..its a sleeper..not a showgirl..lol...i want to suprise the hell out of people when they think they can beat the 200x just cause it looks like **** ...eventually i will either get an xr carb or i may go to dgperf and get the keihin 26mm that they make for it...and prolly when i get that ill get the xcellerator pipe...i just want to mod it out and kick quads asses!!!l lol
