I have a 1978 model DT175. :beer I bought it way back in 87, my first dirtbike. I wouldn't know where to get parts for it except maybe ebay as usual. Mine doesn't run and is stored away. maybe some day I'll drag it out. I hate to admit, but I've often thought about making a trike out of it.

the one i would be getting is in parts and needs about 500$ put into it. is it worth it.

personally I never thought much of the yami enduros they just didn't last as long as others. if most of that $500 is in a new piston and bore job and sprockets and such then yeah its probably worth it if you like the bike. Your local yami dealer should be able to help you with parts.

its piston and bore, stator cover and kicker components, plus it need to be all assembled and painted and cleaned

Save your money for something faster....they are underpowerd..enduro bikes.... dont do well off road..lol

i got a 74 dt125. they are under suspended and under powered for offroad, but if you make it road worthy it wouldn't be that bad. but i wouldn't bother with putting $500 in to it find something else. but that might be harder for you down there.

really. hmmm...so would it be strong enough for kart that only made for a 5hp briggs engine

a Cr/YZ 125 motor would do nicely as long as its liquid cool'd...

the 175 would be fine for a kart, Yeah DT's are underpowered compared to modern liquid cooled bikes but they are still fun.

you could put that engine in a kart. no need to get a liquid cooled engine that just makes more work for you. if you put that in a kart that had a 5hp briggs i bet you that thing would fly. you would be able to go faster because you had gears to shift through. instead of a centrifugal clutch.

Just the kick start lever... the splines on the kicker i have are GONE !!!

If you can find one.. my god man.. PLEASE... i'll hapily pay shipping and a few bucks more for your trouble...

I've found some on e-bay for 30 US plus 12 shipping... i'd rather dish out money to a forum member than an unknown e-bay shop.

LMK.
