I need to know how many people might want to go. It would be at an ATV park like Paragon in Hazelton, PA or other spots you guys know of. I was thinking like late July, any thoughts?

I live less than 10 miles from Paragon. My trike will hopefully be done by the end of this weekend. Haven't been out there at the park yet but used to ride that same area a while back. Lots of other areas to ride around here that are free. But I'll be up for anything. It used to take me about 20 minutes on my quad to get out to the industrial park where paragon is at so I wouldn't even need a trailer. Let me know when your coming up. heck If I can maybe borrow the neighbors trailer I'll even like to check out Rausch Creek.

the only problem with paragon, from what I hear, is that it is very rocky and rough. And what are some of these free parks?

You have skidplates on your trike? Every where up here is rocky. lol free- I meant there are hundreds of miles of trails around my house which you don't have to pay to ride like in paragon. I've been riding these same trails for almost 20 years so I pretty much know where to go. i posted some pics of some of the terrian you can expect on orangeshee's post about may riding pics of shamokin in the local riding forum. I would be more than glad to host some of you guys if you were up for something like that. but I'm up for anything. that's something else maybe to consider. I've been wanting to go to shamokin/ treverton riding but don't know exactly where to go/park and stuff. Maybe if we can find someone to guide that may be some fun. it's up to you like I said I'm up for anything.

that place looks AWESOME with that hill! so Coal hill and shamokin are the same places? And if its close to lancaster we might be able to get mickeys250sx to come as well. But so many people are at TF05
chris200x
06-11-2005, 07:27 AM
I think that hill is either in shamokin or traverton. Which are basically right next to each other. Pretty much the whole area up here is all coal pits and mines. That seems to be one of the more popular spots that's for sure. I'm about 30 minutes or a little more away. I think lancaster is about an hour and a half.
I'm sure there are also tons of trails down that way too. If it was just that hill to ride I would stay on the sidelines that's for sure. No way I would try to climb that on a 200x. Maybe if orangeshee sees this post he can add some more. He goes up there all the time.

As long as the place we go to has a sand pit or a gravel pit I dont care where we go or when it just has to be after june 24th since that is when I get my license.
chris200x
06-11-2005, 08:17 AM
well I'm not too sure about sand pits but lots of silt pits. Which you will usually find right next to anyone of those large coal piles. anyway Anytime is good for me.

Might be a little bit of a road trip for you but I'm sure it will be worth it. some real good riding up in these parts :Bounce
EDIT: if you do decide to come or we can figure out what were doing you MUST bring the tecate I see in your signature. I've been looking and searching my whole life for one of those bad boys... Gonna let me take for a spin eh? :D

I've been out to White Haven, PA a few times to go riding and once to Tower City but thats about it for my PA experience. I'll probably bring my 350x and my 250r woods bike since my 330r and the Tecate are studded and slammed for the ice :D . If there is room I'll bring the Tecate just to look at when we are chillin' and having a few beers. What town in PA are you in/near?

Oh, White haven is only right down the rode from me. Should of came up to hazleton to ride. How long of a trip was it for you?
JohnR.
06-11-2005, 06:46 PM
White Haven was around 2 hours. It takes around an hour to reach the Water Gap from here and then I'm guessing another hour to White Haven. My buddy broke his pelvis and seperated his shoulder the last time we were there, those damn 4 wheelers are DANGEROUS!!! If I can make it I'll try to get a couple of buddies of mine to head out with me. Can we camp out there somewhere? We'd come Saturday morning (maybe Friday night) and stay over. We don't cause any trouble but we do like to have a good time.

Are you referring to rausch creek? I was maybe thinking Tower city has camping but now I ain't sure. I believe you have to know someone to get into tower city. You gonna have the SX runnin? Got backup do ya?
grundlegrabber
06-12-2005, 07:41 PM
You gotta go with a member to tower city, and you are only allowed to ride one day as a guest then you have to buy the $200 membership. You guys are better off camping out at 8 bees. $10 per day and anyone can go. From there you can access the hazleton/mcadoo trails, and you're right at the edge of Paragon (a place i don't care to visit, that's another story tho). Rausch is cool too. 2 good tracks for intermediate to advanced riders, and 1 track for advanced riders, plus a few miles of trails in the woods. Gets boring after 1 day unless you're a hardcore mx'er. I just got back from the best group ride I've ever had. TF05 was the most awesome riding experience I've ever had! Y'all should try to go next yr.

Just give me a good hard date with enough advance notice and I'll be up for any ride. Paragon is an obvious choice because of the miles of trails - however - I am always looking for a local who really knows the trails up there. Have been wanting to get up to St. Clair for a while now.

Hazleton or St. clair? Ever been to paragon before? I vote for the shamokin (coal hill) ride but like you said someone who knows there way around. I can pretty much show you guys around up near hazleton. I can always go do some scouting down coal hill ahead of time to find out where to park and stuff but I' m not familiar with the trails.

I think paragon has like 100+ miles of trails so it might be a good place to go for a weekend ride. Plus I have friend or two that want to go to paragon. So paragon for the group ride?
chris200x
06-18-2005, 09:16 AM
YESS!!! Should I go scout out that red ridge and get some prices for sites and some other info? I'll post it up then. If anyone wants to camp or is staying for more than 1 day. I might need to make a reservation because of it being close to paragon.

Dont think I will be able to make it for that weekend. Maybe for later in the month, still have lots of work to get done on the house. Might be able to make it out for one of those days though.
Iv been to paragon once the little riding I did do was a blast. 2 hour ride there only to ride for about 45 min, and a front wheel bearing went.

If you guys get a weekend together dont let me ruin it for you. like I said If I could get away for a day I will. But it is looking like the home renovations will be done towards the end of July early August. Maybe we can get some other dates set up for then, or even early fall. After that nothing but sleds on my mind. Although there was a few 3+1 wheelers dragin on the strip this past winter, might have to break out the studed tires for the 250r this winter.

Well, if anyone is instrested in doing the weekend thing. My parents are going away the whole month of July and they are giving me the keys to thier camper. The campround is about 17 miles or so from paragon. they also have tent sites there for about $15 a day. I'll be there probably most of the month defenitly every weekend. they get alot of paragon goers down there all summer long. but the bikes have to stay trailered (parked) in the campground. Gotta get the trike running first. lol but I don't think that will take too much longer. I don't think anyone set any dates though???
Tri-ZNate
06-22-2005, 05:02 PM
well the weekend of the 15th I remembered I have a wedding. So I think the 22, 23, 24th would be a good weekend for paragon. Any one have issues with that date?
Also does the campsite have a webpage so I could look at the campsite arrangment? If so I could call ahead and get the spots we want.
chris200x
06-22-2005, 10:28 PM
I don't think. but I can get a brochure or something. It's called moyer's grove campground. It's in hobbie, Pa. between hazleton and berwick if anyone is familiar with this area. Use mapquest for directions.
Here's another delima I have. Paragon makes you use a flag on a pole. I don't have a mounting bracket on my rear grab bar for this setup. What should I do? Just drill a hole or something. I don't want to get out there and be unprepared. I'm looking forward to this!
Tri-ZNate

if you guys are gonna do a group ride at rausch creek I'm there, I tryed to get a group ride together 2 months??? ago, but it got rained out. If anybody is intersted I'm proably gonna go there next week(once this damn poison ivy is gone). My 250r has a short track kit, high horse motor, no skids, 18" tires, I don't think its too capable of a extended woods ride and besides the 310pv would get abit hot from running trails and also I forgot I don't have any lights, nor can I hook them up either(cr igniton).

i am gonna wing it here but i believe shamokin is about 1 hour north of harrisburg and 1 hour west of jim thorpe in the poconos? please let me know if i am wrong. i would also love an address for something nearby or brapp's address. i may call him today to get that and if he is okay i will post it here so we can all mapquest it. i would like to meet early say 8 am and have an arrival cutoff of about 9 am and a rideoff of 930am. i have been to group rides many times where someone invariably gets lost on the way and we spend all morning waiting for one rider. not trying to be mean but it is only fair to the group this way. plus i am sure we will all have cell phones to talk any stragglers out to the trails to find us.

ok sorry for the wait, but the weekend of the 30this great, and coalhill and wher ei camp is in a little coaltown called trevorton, if your heading on rt225 away from shamokin you cant miss it you can see t from wellover 2 miles away!!! there is a gas station, sunoco i think,in trevorton, i live about 2 hours from coalhill so i am planning on getting detailed directions to camp . it is truck accessible, and i can mark a route from rt61. and possibly from rt 81. the zippcode for trevorton is 17881 and from main street (rt225) in town i can get you to camp. but what are we going to call it?

here is directions crom cabellas, store in hamburg, the rt61 and i78 to the center of trevorton, if you get the the gas station/ car wash, i can hang ribbons or small signs to the campsite once your at the gas station its only a few miles to the site. make a right out of the gas station and headtorward the edge of town, and you will start seeing coalhill, start going trough town look for rt2044 on your left, it heads up over the emountain, it is pretty windy but a solid paved 2 lane rd. and once you head up the hill, ther ewill be a dirt path on your left then a turn in the paved rd to your right, go trough the turn and then a nother series of s turns, once you reach the long straight shot up the hill, your pretty much there. ther eis a big open lot on the left its called the strippings, i will set up ribbons all the way back to the camp site, just stay to your lrft and you will bear to the right around a right hand turn and go trough a mud hole, mnothign too serious, but still possible for bald tires, on a 2 wheel drive truck pulling a trailer. but you go mabey 100 yards or so and there is a huge metal bucket from a dragline escavator on the left of the trail, ther eis plenty of area toi camp, and should be a blast. i will do my best to set up ribbons from the gas station in trevorton all the way to the campsite.. itisnt hard to find. but i may not be able to set it up until friday or so i may have to see what i can do. mabey even try and take off on friday to organise it all. here is the link top the map to get there from cabellas in hamburg. http://maps.yahoo.com/dd_result?newaddr=100+Cabela+Drive&taddr=&csz=hamburg%2Cpa&country=us&tcsz=trevorton%2C+pa&tcountry=us

ok easiest way is to get on rt 81 get off at exit116 that is rt 901, head northish. then when you get to the gas station , its red and yellow and on the left, the only one you will come to. make a left, and fallow that allthe way to trevorton.ps that is rt 2044 the campsidte will be on this road . the 3rd stop sign on this rd is trevorton.its a right to the gas station or a left to coal hill. or turn around and head up to the camp site.

i am coming and so is louis mielke and he's bringing 3. we are ready for saturday morning, why can't you come until afternoon? i thought you were going to be showing us around.
hate to be a buzz kill here but..... some one needs to say that the coal lands around Shamokin and Trevorton are posted "private property". The Coal Hill area is posted private property too. Just want everyone to know this information before you come to our little "hick town". Please don't litter and please don't ride any streets or roads, keep the fires small and the party quiet and you shouldnt have anyone bother you. But be forewarned.
Louis Mielke
07-26-2005, 11:09 PM
I'm under the understanding that Brapp works for the company that has the private property signs posted and has permission to ride there. As far as littering I always respect other peoples property and treat where I ride like it was my property. I get pissed when people litter in my woods, fields, etc and I won't do it in other peoples turf.

josh(brapp) also told me he has written permission by his company to ride there with whomever he wants.

Ya, my problem is no transportation for my trike. That's why I offered anyone to come up here cause all we would have to do is cross the street in front of my house and a main trail starts right there. Alot easier for me then a shamokin trip. But 1 day I do want to go!

We had a great time. My little sister Ashley and her friend Jenna are on the 2 polaris quads, my G/F Amanda can be seen on my 250r (just poseing, never rode it) and on the YT125. Josh (brapp) was our host and guide, he was awsome.
This was my first time expereince with hill climbs like these and loose terrain. I had alot of fun and did alright although I wish I had went with a good set of tires as apposed to my really thin ones. My first try at a hill climb on another side of the mound was ok. It took 2 atempts for me to get the feel of it and didn't make it up, the 3rd time was a charm, just pinned it in third and kept my butt on the seat. It was a real deal trying to fight the urge to lean forward to compensate for that leaning back feeling. My other climbs you can see in the pictures, the first time I went half way up, turned and came down no problem. Did this twice trying to get the feel for it. Then I tried going to the very top of that curve and kinda freaked as I got to the top. I let off the throttle and needless to say I had to bail cause my momentun totally stalled. I landed on my feet, skied a good ways before I hit my butt and then watched in horror as my R did summersaults down the hill. The bars folded under and the seat/fenders came off and went flying. I was like NOOOOO!!!!!! and tried to scramble down the hill faster after it. Luckily neither I nor the R suffered any real damage. No bends or breaks to the R, got the wrench out and spun the handle bars back up, put the seat/fenders back on and fired it right up. Can't kill a honda. lol.
Well after my fall I was definatly kinda shook up but I was not about to let the hill win for the day so i gave it 2 more attempts (only halfway up though) and made it on both. That was enough hill climbing for me and I went back to my usual riding envoirment, flat ground and casual hills and trail riding.
The girls did great all day cept Amanda had a little spill on the YT but nothing major.
Overall we had a great time and I can't wait to do it again. I'm really excited about tackling those hill climbs again. Next time I'm gonna do the really big ones.

So did anyone see all those POSTED NO TRESSPASSING signs all over the place out there?
I think I seen at least 2 warning signs in every pic you posted. Geez...locals  btw looks like you had a blast sorry I missed out on that one. But my ride is finally ready Now All I need is a truck that runs and I'll be there for sure! If not cmon up my way there's some monsters to climb here (if that's your sort of thing) I just hate riding by myself?!

chris200x
08-04-2005, 04:30 PM
Where the heck are you finding these bikes in Pa? last time I seen a Z in person was at a dealership in 86" Both kinda rare around here? I still have to break my motor in a bitg...I'm guessing nice and easy for a full tank of gas should do the trick. Only problem is I have to get the darn thing up here cause it's at mom's house right now. Hopefully I'll get it up here by friday evening and well be good to go for saturday. I'll Pm you my phone #.

08-05-2005, 12:10 AM
well the best way to break in a motor is once rebuilt start it up let it idle till up to opperatign temp let it cool and do that 2-3 times then out for an easy 2-10 min ride not exceeding 1/4 throttle then let cool, then take it out for longer ride 1/2 hour or so in under 1/2 throttle and then after that just run the balls of of it now and then but not for more than a few seconds on and off at all diffrent rpms. to seat the rings. and the streetbike is a 99 suzuki gs500e yellow and black and has a lil under 7,000 miles.
selling for $1300

I forgot about you brapp this weekend. Sorry things are kind of heck tick around here lately... I want to get out this weekend or the next but my trike is still down my moms. I have to do some adjusting to it too cause after it fires up when I go to put it into gear and let go of the clutch it just dies right out. I'm getting close thoough. you'll have to bring the fishing gear with ya and we'll hit those stripping holes out back! I know of a couple but since I moved from Hazleton to BM I haven't been out that much over here and really don't know my way around but there are trails everywhere! I let you know when I get this running good and we'll get out! shouldn't be that much longer.

I live in Brookville :). Hah. Bet most of you have never even heard of that place.
And I have NEVER seen a Tri-Z anywhere around here. The only Yamaha trike I have ever even seen for sale was a Tri-Moto 125.
