Universal pipe on stock Head pipe

If I buy a "universal" tail pipe with matching diameter to my head pipe, should it be reasonably easy to put on properly? i have an 83 185s... heres one pipe i was looking at but i think my head pipe has a smaller diameter so hopefully i can find this in a smaller size: http://www.denniskirk.com/jsp/product_catalog/Product.jsp?skuId=445547&store=Main&productId=p445547&catId=109&leafCatId=10902. If the diameters were the same should i be able to use this pipe with little mod/welding???? thanks

yeh sure why not? I personally wouldnt weld it. but I slid the header into my DG and used 2" of tight fitting heavy rubber hose w/2 clamps! Looks good works fine.

i wouldnt weld it either..but a white bros e series would be sweet on a small engine like that..that would be pretty cool man

I settled on a DG RCM exhaust system... alittle bit cheaper and it includes the head pipe. This is specifically designed for the 185s so it should look good on it. Buying so much for the wheeler that I need to watch how much I spend and where.
