Need fork help on '85 yamaha 225 dx

Hey just wondering if anyone can help me with a fork question. I picked up my first trike about 2 months ago and it has bent forks. Wondering if anyone ever straightened them with heat or anything. Don't want to weaken them. Or perhaps someone can tell me where I can buy some straight reasonable. They are bent between the tree and the boots not drastically. Thanks.

I would look on ebay. Those forks usually sell pretty cheap. Those forks are pretty weak when they are new so I wouldn't try to heat and bend them.If anything I would find a press and use no heat at all.Hope this helps

Depends upon the severity.... sometimes if it's very slight, just turn the top tubes 90º so that they are bent "out" L and R and draw them in with the front axle. Again.. have to be slightly bent for that to work....

Could always turn the tops 180º if they are severely bent, and make it into a little chopper! hhhahaahah Howdy ot r00sty would be better people to ask. I had some badly bent Yamaha forks on my 200ERN when I bought them and I took them out to Howdy at Trikefest 04.... what did you ever do with them Howdy?? Straighten? try to straighten? etc??

Don't feel bad as the ratio seems to be about 50/50 on the amont of 225's with bent forks.

I have 3 225's and 2 of them have bent ones. The one is so little I'm not even going to fix it. Other is a must fix though. I got a nice set for 20-$30 on ebay. Like said before, they are on quite often and as a matter of fact I think there is a pair on now but priced a bit high from what I have seen.

Hey thanks to you all for the info. They aren't bent awfully bad. Maybe some of the hints will help. The guy I bought it from let his brother ride it with his little boy on his lap. The little guy got to run the throttle next to the brick house. Thus the rake was changed a little. Not a good idea but noone was hurt. Thanks again.
