anybody know anything about yamaha carbs?

hi i own a yamaha 225dx that i just recently got running.it was running ok until the carb seemed like it was flooding and gas leaked out the bottom. now it is harder to start and when it does start it dont seem to let me give it any throttle. anybody have any ideas?

id guess the needle valve is hung open due to contamination\trash, or the float has a hole in it.
