Where do you buy good quality brake pads for an '85 250sx?
Front & Rear, are they a pain to install?

I got mine at honda.. aftermarket is available. but factory are in canada 25 for the front and 35 $ for the rear.
Both are a piece of cake to replace. i can do both in under an hour if i take my time to clean and grease everything easy.
Getting the front wheel back on and lineing up the brake bus with the brake arm is the worst part.

Ain't that the truth. A real pain in the ***** sometimes.
I'll say one thing though my back brake was spotless after 20 years except for brake dust and I'm quite sure it was never taken off. That seal does a great job!
Front, a different story though, they were a crusty mess of dirt and rust.
Usually they don't need new pads though. I wouldn't have gain much meat on linings by buying new ones so I just cleaned them up and back on they went.

if you remove the brake lever arm from the splined shaft on the drum side.. it's actually not that bad..
but mine is held on with a very fragile bolt and set of washers and i rather not remove it so i do the deed with everthing bolted on..... can be done. but alot of cursing needed.

Yea, I realized that too but was determind to do it the normal way. Never had a machine that I had to remove the arm and took a bit of staring at it wondering how to do it.
See, my axle was so frozen in ( from previous owner) that I had to take off the whole fork-wheel assembly as one unit, then turn the brake side fork to get it off the axle and then pound like crazy to get it out of the brake drum so I never took it off the normal way.
