I'm thinking about getting a Bike here in a few months and was wondering what some other people here on the boards had and some feedback about them. The bike I am looking at is a Honda Shadow 750 Spirit edition. Super nice machine but I want to be sure that I explore all options before jumping into it.

I have license on an XL500R right now. My buddy has license on an XL350. It's kinda fun riding dual sport bikes everywhere and it's nice for as much as we ride off road but for a street only bike I would look for any older 600cc crotch rocket. I bought a Yamaha FZR600 for $700!! It needed carb work and a battery. It had some motor work done to it and was dynoed at 87 rwhp. Lots of fun!! I'm kinda in the market for a 90's CBR600 right now. Nice thing is the bikes pay for themselves in gas savings.

I want a crusier though, not a crotch rocket.

around here late '80s and early '90s harley 1200 sportsters are going for 4k and under... even if its out of your price range i think youd be happier and youd for sure get more respect on a harley

Damn that's cheap, where are you located? That would be worth the drive, no prices like that around here.

I am a former Harley owner. Never again, never again. I owned two Harley's and they were straight junk. I thought they were nice machines until I hopped on my V Star. I will never go back. That V Star has cost me nothing but a new clutch cable, rear tire, and regular maintenance since I bout it new in 1999. That is the bike I suggest. It has been all over this state, been hit twice, and is the most reliable vehicle I have ever owned. As far as he respect thing, the bikers I hang out with do not give a damn what you ride, as long as you ride.

$4000? $5500? You can buy a brand new Sporty for $6500 to $7500. Why not a V Max? They are horrendously fast, and they are still cruiser-ish. But then again, I'm with Lonesome Z. I'm not a Harley man.

i agree, some of these jap bikes are better and cheaper but there just isnt a comparison to riding a harley IMO :Bounce

Lomax the Shadow is a pretty nice bike to ride ,my uncle has one and for what it is it is a nice bike to ride and very comfortable.I also have ridden the old nighthawks and like them also, and of corse I have ridden a harley more than once.I guess its what you want, just as long as your riding !!!
