i was wondering if anyone knew if a 350x carb would bolt on my 1986 200x or if anyone knows a cheap way to get a bigger carb from anything that will bolt on to it with out having to go out and spend the money on a new one? Thanks

You are talking Beans and pineapples,The carbs are totally different,I have never heard of that conversion but with this group someone has probably done it.If you are looking for more performance go with a K&N for starters!

What has been done to the 86 to require the bigger carb? There is no true cheap way. I will tell you the xr200r is 26mm over the x's 24mm. And will bolt, but you probably will have to plumb to airbox. However your still stuck with the 200x intake. So you may wanna fix that as well. If I remember correctly when I miced the 2 intakes they came out about 1mm difference. But that is pure memory here and sometimes mine isnt the best. I never did look to see if the physical intakes will interchange. I could if need be, but my shop time is extremely limited right now. If there are little to no mods done on this atc I really recommend you leave the carb alone on this particular trike. Go with air filter like mentioned. I am sure you probably already have a cobra exhaust? Dont see many of these stock exhaust anymore. When you look for K$N it will say discontinued for the 86 200x, so have them look up 350x and if that dont fly use the trx 250 fourstroke.
Hmm you snuck in with your mods, while I was typing,. LOL Look into the xr carb setup.

you can use the carb and intake from an 86 and newer xr200r. there are 4 bolt holes around the intake port of the 200X/xr200r head, the xr intake will use the 2 holes that are not used by the X intake. and yes you will have to do a little work on the air snorkel from the air box to the carb.

yea the XR200R dirt bike from like 86-97 use the same cylinder and head as the 200X. so yea if you are looking for some top end parts for your X and can't find them, look up and XR200R of those years and they will bolt up. even the 6 speeds out of the lower of the XR's will slide into the X bottom end with no mods.

I am not so sure the intake will work. So I am not going to say definatly yes on that one. I do however know the carb will. Atcwrench is right on with ebay. I lost 3 of the fights I got into with that carb. And they show up 1 at a time its seems.
The internals of the engine will not interchange. I dont think atcwrench caught that you had an 86.

well some could be used as spare, and other things like the cam can be used as performance over the stock X parts. the XR cam has bigger lobes, so it is like a small performance cam when put in a X. and the six speed give you an extra gear, it will spread out the gears making the performance better.
but since you have an 86, the internals will not fit anyway..

Adam stop confusing him! LOL
The 86 already has 6 gears, while the 83- 85 do not, they only have 5. Also what they are saying is pretty much alot of stuff from xr will fit in the 83-85 200x, but since you have the 86 this does not apply. I am gonna try and fiddle with my 86 today, and will look and see if the intakes will interchange but dont hold your breathe. I really dont think they will based on the way I remember they are placed. But will look nontheless. You may just be looking at the carb for now and trying to figure something else out with the intake. Maybe someone else may have a better suggestion or know for a fact of other things that will mount and fit. The only thing I am aware of for mounting is the carb. And you will have to probably plumb to airbox which truley is not that big of a deal. Of course that was already covered.
Edit: the intake wont work. It is aprox 1 to 1/2 in shorter then 86 intake which would pull carb directly under frame, making life really difficult for throttle cable sticking.

DG sells a brand new carb that i believe is 1mm bigger, for the 83-85, and the 86-87, either are about 150 dollars i think http://www.dgperf.com
