I just rebuilt a 79 110, today when I started it it reved out to full throttle and would not stop. Any ideas what would cause this?

yeah i had the same problem sounds like your throttle cable is stuck trace it back and see if it is caught or stuck somewhere

the slide is not in backwards? if not, air leak, start spraying carb cleaner around the head, base, intake gaskets when it bogs you found the leak.

MTS is right.

Either the slide or an air leak between the carb and cylinder.

You did check your idle screw right ????

mine is doing that, i know that it is an air leak from the manifold to the carb... check those bolts or make a new gasket to put between the old one and the other piece... i just havent gotten around to fixing mine but i am 100% thats what the problem is.. an air leak.

I sprayed carb cleaner everywhere on the intake and nothing happened. Then I sprayed it where the head gasket is and it bogged. So now I am pissed because that was a new gasket. I geuss the head is worped.

that sucks, you may be ok still.. get some "gasket maker" it comes in tubes and if you can find where the problem is you may can seal it up

clean the head and lay it on a piece of plate glass, if it rocks, its warped. Then lay the glass on the top of the jug and see if it rocks.

An air leak at the head, intake or carb, along with a rich mixture will do this. It doesnt take much air to rev a motor with no load.

pop the head off check it on glass, if its flat check the cylinder, you can deck it yourself with a sheet of emery cloth taped to a piece of glass and wd-40 as lubricant, do a figureeight on the emerycloth on the surface you want smooth, do it a few times and you will see the high spots becuse there will be no scratched on it, if you keep going as long as its not majorly warped you can get it flat yourself, if not take it to a macine shop and have them take as much off as a basegasket is thick then just add another basegasket to even everthing out, did the 110 have a copper head gasket i cant remember, use some high-tack gasket spray on it from permatax i think makes it, .
