Hey, putting together an rm80 (1980) in the true back yard mechanic way. And was wondering if someone could please tell me how the killswitch is wired? I have the button with the wire cut. I dont have the manual (yes I know cardinal sin here). But if you all could help me here, we would like to hook up the push button kill switch. Based on other push buttons this looks to come off the kill as one wire then splits to??? to plug into??? If you could tell me then hopefully I can fix this, thx Jen

I dont know that bike specifically, but usually a push button kill switch is tied to a black and white wire, and simply grounds it. There is an easy way around that though. The way I wire a tether kill switch, or a push buttom kill switch is to tie one end to the low voltage input side of the coil, and the other end to ground. When you push the button, it grounds out the low volatge coil input, and you get no spark. Both my TriZs have the push button kill switches, and tether kill switches wired this way. The other nice thing is most coil input wires use a spade connector on the coil, and you can stick the wires right into the connector, and plug it in whcih holds them tight, without splicing or soldering anything.

Hard to say without a wiring diagram, but most Ive seen short the Blk/Wht wire (its that way on my ATV) to frame ground. Try starting it and grounding the suspect wire.
