I have been reading, lurking, stalking, whatever you want to call it, on this board for about a month and finally decided to post.

What colors were made by Hondaline for the front/rear fender extensions for a 350X? I bought my 85 350X back in 1989 and it had extensions and they are black. Thought that was the normal color until I look at the pics on here and notice the white ones. Wonder who made these? I took the rear ones off right after I got it because it made it look like a utility trike but the front one either looks good or I had grown used to it.

Man the bikes you guys have are unreal. Mine looked good in 1989 but never as good as these. Of course I was 16 then and rode the dog snot out of it so it never had a chance. Now it sits in my garage calling for my attention..........no, that was my wife calling for me to do something with it. If she only knew that was my first true love.

This appeals to me on so many levels....I couldn't stop laughing and then read it out loud to my wife. Funny thing was, she didn't find it funny at all! Women!

Anyway, welcome to the board.

Seems like you have maier fender extensions. The Hondaline ones came in white only. But they could be Hondaline ones and painted....

If you get a pic I'll be able to tell you for sure.

:welcome: To the boards!!!!

All the 350X and 250R ones are white.... the 86-87 200X are white... the 350X was the only one that Hondaline made a rear fender flare for. (or overfender) The 83-85 200X front one is black and is a different kind of plastic... thinner and harder.... hard to describe, but definitely a different forming process than the white one which are thicker and a softer plastic.

Back in the day, Tri-Max made a line of fender extenders... they were black and much more functional on the rear than the Hondaline ones. I've tried to find info on the company on the internet but must have gone out with the demise of the 3 wheeler.... they had tons of cool looking accessories!

They must of been painted... because they only came in white for the 350x.

Here are some pics (if they turn out right) of the front extender. The rear are in a box somwhere in storage. I'm thinking they are Tri-Max like 350x'inNY says.

See if these turn out right and excuse the dirt/dust, she's been sitting for about 10 years.

Well, that isn't a Maier one that's for sure. It looks like a Hondaline one... but it could be a TRI-MAX one, I've never seen one of those so I dunno.

Wanna sell me the front fender brace??? :naughty:

Already trying to scrap her out, huh?

I have bought several parts over the last few years so I can do a rebuild.

I will try to find those rear extenders so I can get some pics posted.

I'd be interested in seeing the rear ones... The Hondaline rear ones are about useless; other than the rarity. In fact, I have a Dirt Wheels article from back in the day that they hopped up a 350X and Honda gave them the fender extenders and speedo and such for it. In there right up ever Dirt Wheels said they were more cosmetic than any function. (rears) Now the front ones definitely help keep splashes from the tires from getting up on you!

I have looked all over my parent's storage buildings for the rear ones but I can't find them. I bet they are in a lanfill somewhere now. If anyone wants to see them that bad, I will point you to about 100 acres where you could start digging :p

I did, however, find something interesting that I forgot was even on the bike when I got it. A speedometer!! Of course now it is busted all to hell. Those things sat up there like a prom queen riding in a convertible in a parade......just waiting to get nailed. Anyway, I still have the gear box, a busted speedo with bracket, and the guide that is like the one on the opposite side for the brake line. Thought I found the cable but I think it was just a spare clutch cable laying in the same box.

I don't know whether to part the X out or start rebuilding. I definitely know which is the cheaper route.

If you start parting out, I want to be first in line for the speedo stuff.

That front fender extension looks like the one on my 83 200x

Crap you beat me to it! (I'm second in line :naughty:  )

It's not a 200x fender extension... doesn't have the "H" in the front.
