i have a gambles riding mower, and i need to change the belt pulley that is attached to the crankshaft, and i have tried pulling it off with my puller, ive tried prying it off with a screwdriver, ive beat on the thing with a hammer and i have removed the bolt securing it to the crank, so my question is what are your guy's tricks to getting these pulleys off.

We need to see what it looks like. You need a 2050 Snap-On air hammer, with a flat hammer bit to vibrate it off.

so thats how you do it, anyhow i have used pullers and have had success, but not on this machine.

If you loosen the bolt & leave it in the shaft with about a 1/8" to a 1/4 " space between the bolt & pulley. Put the flat hammer bit on the head of the bolt & don't go nuts, & hold it in the center of the bolt, I bet you it pops off & you use that trick for a million other things. I use it to loosen stubborn hydrolic hose ends, just push it one of the flats of the fitting, & you can spin it rite off with out hurting a thing. SWEET :Bounce :beer A'm I the only farmer that love's his air chizel?

i forgot to mention, i am also changing engines and transmitions, and this engine has electric start and when it was in the other mower the machine had a backup alrm, headlights, brakelights, hydraulic lift to lift the blade deck up, so im wondering since i have put this engine in a different machine and i dont want the backup alrm or the headlights, brakelights or the hydraulic lift, can i just cut these wires leading to them and tape off the ends. Then that way i wont have as much wiring, this lawnmower im building is going to be an FX racer, ive implanted a 16hp twin cylinder engine in it, since im going to race it i dont want no headlights or brakelights or the back up alrm, so can i just cut the wires and it will be fine.
