Ok. I got one of my forks polished, and now I cannot get the brake drum off of the other one to polish it, and paint up the brake drum. Can ANYONE help me on this?? I have tried putting Liquid Wrench on it and all. Maybe I am just trying to take it off the wrong way?? I need the whole brake drum/axle taken off. Help please!!!
Here is a pic of it.. not the best, but it wasn't meant to show just the brake drum. You can see it on the front of the bike.

That's exactly how mine was. I slid the fork out of triple clamps and used the fork as leverage so instead of turning the axle, I turned the fork and even then it was tough!
You might not want to mess with in and just take it to a cycle shop?

does that side thread into the fork tube? ive seen the other side has a 4 bolt cap, {VERY nice touch on that model for tire/wheel changes} if it does, and since you have to drop the fork from the tripples, try clamping the bolt's head in a vise and do as huffa said useing the fork tube as a huge breaker bar.

heat it maybe?
heats prolly a bad idea..id think with the fork being aluminium, and its full of oil springs ect..AND is very important that it retains its temper since it is an axle?

No Heat, I would Spray it with something Nasty that eats up Rust and Gunk Keeping the Bolt Vertical, Spray it a few times through out the day, next day Clean it up and do as Huffa Says. If he did it so can you. Good luck, and lets see some pics when its done.

Well I went out and I got her off. It took a vice, a monkey wrench, and a hammer.. but she came right off. Thanks for the help. I'll be sure to post pics when I'm done. Most likely tomorrow.

Nope Huffa. I haven't even got it yet. I'm expecting it tomorrow or Wednesday. I am going to wait until the pipe gets here to sandblast everything else. I'll do it all at one time.
And bigredhead.. I didn't use vice grips. I used a vice, like Huffa said to in his post. And actually, I just used the monkey wrench to turn it out after I got it loose. It would have took forever to turn it half a turn, take it out of the vice, put it back in, turn it another half turn, etc.

I'm not sure if your aware that there are rubber plugs that go in the circles in the fender supports, are you?
I'm missing one myself. It's one of those parts that is in my garage somewhere though.

On the front fender? Yeah.. I'm aware of that. I haven't lost one yet, so I'm happy. I can't wait to see what this front end looks like after the rim is painted, the forks are polished, and I have everything else painted.
And you asked earlier about chroming the brake backing. No you cant. I tried. It is just regular old metal. It will rust if I leave it unpainted. The forks are aluminum, therefore you can do that to them and they won't rust. So now I'm at a loss of what color to paint it. Eh. I'll find something tomorrow.

Not on the front, the rear. Those circles in the brackets take rubber plugs (#3) and the fender is supposed to rest on them but usually the fender doen't even touch the support 1/2 the time.
That's one part I think Honda intentionally made wimpy, that way it's real easy to bend it back up. Sometimes I think they are a bit too wimpy though?

You had it the easy way, nouse!!!
I wish I would of taken some pics of ours, it was a total disaster! The part of the fork where the axle screws in was CRACKED! We messed with the thing for hours, torchs, sludge hammers, vices, all sorts of stuff!
And the funny part is, we didn't even NEED the parts, it was like a huge chalenge that we had to over come. Finnally we took it to a machine shop, took a huge torch, vice, and some heavy duty locking plyers, and finnally got her out a there!
