i recently had the clutch redone, and cover changed on my 86 R with one i had polished myself. i had the guy who did it use s.s.hex heads to go with the rest of the biike. well after it sat for a week it began to leak tranny oil very slowly from the bottom of the clutch cover.(a few dropps over a week) i decided to check and see how long the bolts were that he used for the clutch cover. It turned out 3 of the bolts were 1/2 as long as the needed to be so i replaced them with longer ones. after doing this it still has a small leak, so my question is this: will the gasket not work after it has been saturated all the way through, or do you think it has to be the mating surface? i really wanna ride so im lookin for any help

Might need some gasket sealer..... if you lay the new cover on a piece of glass can you slide a piece of paper in certain spots ?

Was the old gasket removed completely ?
etc..
