My R with blue rad shrouds [Archive]

I went ahead and bought some. Not a perfect match but not bad either. I'll get better pics some other time. It's way to flippin' hot out there right now.

What do you guys think?

P.S. That 200x might be for sale come this weekend.

As far as the shrouds..........They are a good TEMPORARY fix, the blue just dosn't match the seat... :rolleyes:
And for christ sake, loose the maier stickers!!!!!!!!!! :crazy:

I also forgot to menton that without the honda 250r stickers......it's just not the same.....Whatever happend to your old radiator shrouds?ohh by the way, WTF is up with that alien sticker on your front fender? I'd loose that too, it dosn't match the RED honda, catch my drift....

My OEM's are badly cracked around most of the bolt holes. I don't have the cash for new OEM's right now and the Maier's are cheap. Their red doesn't match the Honda red either so I decided to try something different.

I have maier front and rear fenders. But I bought oem shrouds on ebay. They are a little scuffed up, but they match the tank WAY better than the maier......As previously stated, nice bike, loose the maier and alien sticker........lol

If I keep those on there for a while I'll get new Honda wing decals to replace the Maier ones (they come like that by the way).

It came that way on my front fender, Iripped that F***ER off before I left the store!!! The yellow and black sticker looks like crap!
As for the alien sticker being your co-pilot, that must be an Arizona person thing........hahahahahaha :lol:

Not bad....

Add some Honda 250r stickers on the shrouds. Don't get the ones with the background in red because it will look gay. Somone on ebay sells some that have no background.

Then throw on some blue grips, and add some blue number plate backgrounds and perhaps some blue accents on the front fender...

its done and will look great!!

I dig the blue! Nice Idea. Something that changes the trike up and gives it some personality. Plus its easy and fairly inexpencive. Just might give it a try. Nice work.................................... :beer
What he said ^^^!!I like the blue.I wish maier made blue for the 350x,i would have bought a set for the 350x, instead i had to spray paint them.The darker blue maiers would have looked better than this....It looks close in the pic but it's actually alot lighter in person.

I'm used to the other colors but every now and then you get tired of looking at the same thing. I looked at the pictures for a while and it started to grow on me.... and I'm an OEM man.

I say if you step out in your garage and you dig seeing your R with blue shrouds, thats all that matters.

What I really want to do (and will sooner or later) is get rid of all the blue and just have it all red and black. I need a seat cover and OEM shrouds though. Just don't have the cash right now but probably will soon. Then I'll either hang the blue shrouds up in the garage to use for a future project or ebay them. I bet a 250R with all black plastics (including tank), blue boots, blue seat and those blue shrouds would like tight as hell though.

And yeah I am thinking about selling the X to fund a different project. I'm supposed to be picking up another X this weekend but it's apparently pretty beat up. Basically I would be getting rid of the nice X to get two trikes. A beat up 1983 X and a Z that's in serious need of some TLC. We'll see. If I do it I'll post something in the classifieds by the end of this weekend. I'd sell it to a board member for what I have into it but if it doesn't get snatched up quick it's going on ebay. It's a shame it might have to go. It's about as close to a virgin 200x as I've seen in a long, long time.

Looks awesome Dammit!, I personally like the blue shrouds. The original thing is nice but has been done alot. Yours has a special splash of colour that really sets her off IMO. Ive said it once, and ill say again " you have a nice clean R!"

And P.S the Black and blue thing :drool:
When I pick my other Z up, im going that route too.

The blue looks nice! I agree about the seat cover though. Maybe go all blue maier plastics with a red ceet seat cover and red boots. That would look sick! It looks great as is now too. Good job.

I know it's been done but I still want to do it for a number of reasons. Mainly because I want to be able to make it look original again with a minimal effort. To do blue and black the right way you'd have to chage the frame color.

I've got a couple ideas for some added flare that I've never seen done before though. ;)

Yeah mine is gonna change as well. The red seat is actually coming off, as is the red gas tank and the headlight. Frame will go black, and the boots come off. and that exhaust is out too... I hope to start this this fall.

just out of curiousity Dammit...you have that big of a theft problem out there? i noticed in the pics that you`ve got a cable lock on them,and they`re INSIDE the garage......just wondered

I've had a couple small items snatched from the garage. I wouldn't say it's a high crime area but it's definitely not Beverly Hills either. That cable actually runs up into the attic and around the rafters too. Better safe than sorry.

My brothers 1982 250R (MINT by the way) got stolen out of a locked garage in Ohio in broad daylight with a barking dog in the yard. You can never be too careful.

Mainly the fit. These shrouds for example took a little modification to put on all the way tonight (had to use a drill bit to bore out a couple holes) and it still isn't close to fitting the way OEM plastic does. I think they look fine if you're using ALL Maier so everything matches (or contrasting colors). Just wish they fit a little better.

Better safe than sorry. I keep mine locked up with a huge chain inside a locked garage. It may not stop them completely but it will slow them down some. I've had a mototcycle stolen and when it happens to you it SUCKS the big one!

I'm supposed to be picking up a 200x beater tomorrow for $150. I'm going to leave that one unlocked as a decoy. :lol:

Got another purchase coming up soon but it's a surprise. :naughty:
