I saw a recent thread on recommendations for chrome plating.

Does anyone here have any knowledge of the Zinc plating industry. I would love to send a bunch of parts to get that fresh OEM look without going to the chrome look.

1. Is there any company specialize in it for motorcycles/ATVs ?

2. Is the type of plating that goes on axles different from bolts. (Axles dont seem as shiny to me even when new)

Ive heard of cadmium (spelling??) plating but not quite sure of the look. Ive done searches on the internet but seem to come up with companies that want to do huge part lots for big companies.

Any help would be appreciated.

Well I've seen a cold zinc coating that come in an aerosol can. Go to Linweld.com.

Cadium plating is what the stock 250R swingarms and wheels have that give them the gold look. some fasteners have the same process as well. I'd try the yellow pages or maybe a google search if you want a shop that'll do it. I think most of the places that do chroming also do other work like zinc and cadium plating too.

Thanks to all for the suggestions :beer

I am going to investigate them all, including my own science project from Eastwood. Ive seen that before and although it looks like I could blow myself up I think I'm going to give it a shot for the small parts. I'll just start to call metal platers for my axles.

Cadium plating comes in two colors. White cad and yellow cad. They look silver or gold. A 250r swingarm is not cadium plated it is painted, and the rims are anodized gold. When I rebuilt my 250R I had all the bolts and nuts done with yellow cadium. If you look at my bike all the bolts are gold looking. I do all the special factory hardware on the aircraft engines so it looks like all new hardware. Most chrome shops can do cadium plating. I have several around me that do.
