Myself & Mr. Sandman are planning a trip to Dumont Dunes over the weekend of August 26-28. We'll most likely be arriving late Friday night on the 26th. Not quite sure if we'll stay the whole weekend yet, but ya' never know. So, we're putting the word out: Any board members interested in attending, c'mon out there. You know what they say, "The more the dustier!"

I think they're all scared of the heat, the big dunes and the gaurenteed sand blastin' / spankin'. :D

I don't even know where Dumont is.

Dammit, Dumont is about 30 miles north of Baker, CA off I-15 on the way to Vegas. Send me a PM for more details if your interested. The overall acreage of the dune field isn't as big as Glamis, but they they're steeper, taller (500' to the top of comp hill), and have hundreds of nasty/wicked knife edges and razor backs. :beer

I am scared of the heat. My youngest boy is 3 and I don't have a motorhome with air.
Sandman are you taking your kids on this one

No, our summer trips are just for the big boys, but yes, A/C is a must have. Our trip last summer saw 115* temps, but hopefully the weather will hold as it has been and only be in the high 90's to low 100's.

That sounds like fun. Probably going to have to catch you guys next time though. Went on a long drive to pick up a 200x last Sunday and I'm going to Yuma to pick up a Tri-Z tomorrow. Little sick of being in the truck and pretty much broke now.

Definitely interested in checking that place out this coming season though. How many hours from Phoenix is it? Any idea?

How many hours from Phoenix is it? Any idea?I don't know if this would be the easiest route for you Dammit!, but it's 6 hours from Phoenix to Vegas & then 2 hours from Vegas to Dumont. There is probably a slightly more direct route, but either way it's going to be a long drive for you. Hopefully we'll get to ride together someday. I think that would be cool.

I'm planning to go to Glamis Thanksgiving weekend. That's only about three and a half hours, maybe four hours from here. I've been hoping a bunch of 3WW and .org people show up.

I've never been to "Mother G" before so I'm gonna need a good guide. :)
