hey skidoo (bombi) is making a 2 stroke 400 quad for 2006. it should come out this fall a local dealer told me. i think it should be pretty decent no one else is making a 2 stroke quad anymore so it should be a big seller. what do you guys think???????

yeah I was gonna say the banshee will still be made in '06. Does Honda have ANY 2 stroke quads now?

if they are im buyin one, but it sounds close to impossble considering a newer technology 400 2 stroke, rotax none the less, would be lethal, and environmentalists wont like it do to the fact that its a 2stroke, if its true they probly wouldve publicly announced it tho, the 06 models are already out to buy

no they havent had a 2 stroke in there line up since 89 as far as quads go
Polariass has a 250 thats auto and they dropped the 2 stroke scrambler
Suzuki-None since 90 or 91
Kawasaki-none since 90 or 91
Bombardier-Never untilpossibly now? which would hopefully push othre mfg.'s towards the 2strokes once they start sellin em like hot cakes cuz of all the 2 stroke lovers that are missing new 2 strokkes, like me
GasGas-Wild HP300
and theres 2 companys sellin 600cc+ 2 strokes, one jus sells m,otors the other sells motors in a quad that they built that retail way over 10 large, close to 20

What about this one?
Service Honda still makes a TRX250R and you can buy one BRAND NEW. Yet no-one does. Why don't they sell like hot cakes?

yah truue......but alls it is is a cr250 motor in a 400ex chassis, if your gunna spend that much money on a quad i would buy a bigger motor and do it myself, and theres a lottttttttttt of ppeople who dont knowabout that, if it was on showroom floors they would sell a lot more thanthey do now

oh by the way , i was actually gunna buy one of those about a year ago, but they selll you the kit to convert your 400ex to a 250r, and i dont have a 400ex.....at least it was at that time thats all they sold, so i couldnt bare it, thani loooked again not to longago and they want like $8500 for it, and id much rather have a real 250R, and id much ratherdo it myself if i where t buy a quad w/o the original motor

2006 is also the last year for the Blaster. My Local dealer said the new Bombi was going to be a rotax 400 thumper with conventional fenders (unlike the DS) but otherwise, just a downsized DS650. Ofcourse, that was a few months ago.

yes, i just read a few articles and sites, all more reliable sources( i.e. Dirtwheels, ATVSport etc.)(even tho i normally dont trust the magaznes but with atv productin you have to, that they are making a 400 4 stroke or 250 2 stroke sport quad, but its more than likely gunna be the 400, even tho they currently do not make a 400 single cylinder 4 poke engine

the environmentalist argument is kind of sad for two strokes. I read in a boat magazine an article to enviornmentalists about oil injected two strokes. If you think about it a good designed oil injected two stroke could burn almost 98% of its oil. When you change the oil on a fourstroke the oil has to be disposed off and scarier still is to think of the people that don;t properly dispose of oil.
I will miss the banshee and two strokes in general, the scrambler in my sig is my first two stroke, maintence is more intensive but I am sad I got into 2 smokes this late when they are almost gone. The potential HP is sickening to say the least and on a belt drive theres almost no issue with the power being peaky.

if you read the article in atv sport about the 06 250r you would have different opions about building it your self.they went through alot of extra steps to ensure good ride.revalved the suspinsion, made special motor mounts for the vibration,a custom pipe all that bs thats envolved with mating to diffrent products.they also said it was the fastest, and best quad to date.light, nimble and very powerful.50+ horse.a 450 eater for sure.super sick bike if you ask me.if it was not 8500 i would have one.but still 8,500 for a track ready, race quad is not too bad.

It wouldn't really suprise me to see a new 250 2-stroke bombi, they have the technology to make VERY clean 2-strokes (SDI in their sleds and DFI in their boat motors). I don't believe there is a "ban" on 2-strokes but there is some sort of fleet emmisions stanard that the ATV co's have to meet. Of course any current 2-stroke ATV (banshee, blaster) out right now would not meet these standards since their motors are old tech.

they also said it was the fastest, and best quad to date.light, nimble and very powerful.
they say that about every quad they test, read any other test in there magazines, when the Z400 just came out "this quad has more torque than the raptor and will beat it in any drag race " even tho i disliike both it jus goes to show tht they lie about things
and i already know whats involved with swapping motors in and out ive done it a few times myself its not as hard as you think, making motor mounts that take up vibration, a custom pipe, and suspension are no big deal, for under $100 you can have many companies tune your suspennsion iin for whatever you want

The service honda trx250r would be a really nice bike I think but in seeing the price it isn't very economical. If I were a serious racer there is no way I would buy one of those especially being on a 400ex platform. I would buy the 450r and use the extra money that it would take to buy the 250r and get better suspension parts and have some engine mods done to it....Chris

All the dirt bikes I ride with in normal everyday riding the 450's spank the 250's. Might be a little different on the mx track though.

maybe on tight trails where the 2 stroke cant get into its power, but anywhere else i would have to go with the 2 stroke bike

yeah, i dont care who you are, but for going crazy fast and having heart-pounding fun, a 450R with a brand new cr250 motor would be the $#!T....i might have to build one of them someday....

250r engine in a trx450r frame would be nice, but personaly I would just slap a CR500 engine in a 450r frame! You want to talk about HAULIN A**!!! But hey thats just me....
Service honda put the cr500 engine in the crf250r frame, that must be insane!!!

after you use permanent loc tite and stahe 8 every bolt on there and thanfill the bars with something put on a steerring stabiliser and rubber mount it... lol
ythat would vibrate like a sum *****, people have done it befoore...ive heard the later years kawasaki counterbalanced the kx500, i would much rather use that powerplant, yet i still dont get why you would want it in a blaster chassis  drag quad. thats it, blasters dont hndle good with a blaster motor in em

^^^ hahahahahaha well we never said this would be a ride for the faint of heart now did we?? lol
anyway, there is a picture of one some guy named Carmen castro made in the October Dirtwheels, pg 139, pg 134 there is a pic of the JP racing cr500 quadtrax. I would kill to build one of those things, someday I proubly will....Anyway my next quad is either gonna be a 450r or a 250r with a 310 kit! Then someday I'll make one using that 1000cc motor!!! Maybe I'll bore out each cylinder, get all racing pistons and rods and on top of all that run it on alcohol, it would be a time bomb, but I'd be approching the sound barrier when I pinned the throttle!!!! The kit is only $3,900, they're practicly giving it away!!! someday.......... :w00t:

yeah i saw that motor, suppodely puts out 210 hp....idk, but i dont think it would vibrate too bad as its a twin....
