'85 250R Bearing carrier

Hi guys, need some help/advice

I need a new carrier for an '85 R. I need advice on a brand, style and where to find such an animal. I would like an external grease fitting if at all possible, as we ride in a lot of muddy areas, and I think that being able to force the water out after every ride should help the life. ANY advice is appreciated.

I dont know of any with an external grease zerk. At least not one that is accessible through the swingarm. You could cut a hole in your swinger to access the zerk , but to me its not worth that. I slide mine out after a few rides,give it a few shots of grease and slide it back in.Depending on the conditions I have riden in, you know.
I put a Lonestar carrier on mine , and I love it. It cost me about $220 I think ,its been a while .It is a twin row carrier and there is many places that sell them. Just make sure you get the right one. That is to say that the 85 carrier is exclusive to 85. In other words you cannot interchange the carrier with an 86 or any other year. GREG

^ditto to what MD said...the `85 carrier is an exclusive critter and won`t interchange with any other models...they increased the outer diameter of the carrier on the `86,and unless i`m mistaken,it remained the same into the 250r quads....just make sure i`s for an `85.....Lonestar is a really nice unit and you might find one on ebay for a decent price

Yes the rad carrier has a grease zerk. At least my buddys 400ex rad carrier has a zerk, Its on the end of the carrier. You have to put the grease gun hose through the sprocket hub. I don't know for sure, but I would bet the carriers are still the same on a trx-450. I fixed my buddys 400ex carrier & put it in my 86 250-r 3 wheeler, so I know they are the same. Does anyone know If a 450 is the same? I would find yourself a 86 swing arm & you should have no problem finding a carrier.
