Who has one of these 10" front wheels and how did you get it? I called and they said no way, they won't make it. The biggest pattern on a 10" wheel they would do is a 4/166 and to get a 4/170 you'd need an 11". Is this BS or have some of you actually got one?

Hmmm Frank your actually the second person I've heard that from...

Try contacting 86waterpumper, and I think Jared too are both the ones that were telling me about it.

Here is a 10" rim I got from a board member. I'm wondering if it will clear the front caliper.

Oldschool, I have already started to do that. :wondering I want a 10" wheel on my drag racer. What I have found out is you have to take the front brakes off, (mine already are off). I had my buddy turn the 250-r hub down to fit inside a banshee front wheel, now I just have to drill the trike bolt pattern. My 250-r front wheel is evenly spaced in the center. I'm gunna get a 7" wheel instead of the origional width witch I think is 8". Then I can run any front tire I want. I bet with your talent you could figure out a way to make the front brakes work also. If you think about it, all you would have to do is move the calipar towards the the center of the wheel & cut the rotor down a little smaller. I am interested if someone has a better way to get it done, until then I can make it work without front brakes. :beer

Chainsaw, I put in an email last night to them and if I don't hear anything to day I'll give them a call. Thanks!

Mr. Hall, I got in contact with an old friend that has this setup today. He's running the stock front brake system yet but he says it's damn close. He too had to turn down his hub some to fit in the bell. He says the perfect wheel for the job is a 6" wide 3+3 offset douglas. He thinks his came from douglas with the 4/170 pattern. I'll have to call them and talk to someone else to see what's up here.

thanks

How about a group buy on this front wheel? I know Brandon and I want 3 of them. I definately want a 7" wheel, though.

I figured on shaving the axle down some to make it fit, as all the others i've seen we're done this way.

Could we just get a centered 10" wheel with no holes?

I was wondering the same thing about the blanks Derrick because my machinist would nock out some perfect holes for next to nothing. Sad news though, they said they will not sell undrilled wheels. Also I'm just guessing here but I think you'd have to ditch your front brake if you went with a 7" wide 10" wheel.

The front wheel just clears the caliper. Douglas DOES still make them. Frank, you must have talked to someone new or someone who really doesnt know what they are talking about. Whenever I call, I always talk to the girl. She tells me everything exactly about the wheel, the price, dimensions, etc. The total comes to about $85, thats with the price of the wheel, custom wheel charge, and shipping.

The last time I called was like last month, so when I saw this I thought maybe they stopped. Well I called earlier today, and got the exact same story as before. around $85 total.

My rim in the pic above does not fit up to a 350x front hub, I measured from one hole to the hole next to it and its about 5 1/2 inches, a 350x measured about 4 3/4, is a 200x or 250r front hub different? Wonder what it could be for? Z, T3?

Wow 85 big ones for 1 wheel . I think I can deal with 2-sets of holes in my banshee wheel :wondering. Either that or I will weld the unused holes up. I'm out boys, I think I can find a way to make 2-banshee wheels fit My 2-R's for less than 85 bucks. Thanks for the Info, I will keep you informed on what I wind up doing. :beer If theres a will theres a way. No matter what wheel you get, If its a 10'' wheel the calipar is still gunna be close. The only thing I can think of that the custom wheel could have different is a slight bit more offset to the opposite side of the brake calipar. The cure for that is to offset the hub on the axle, I think thats what Derrick was talking about ( shaving the axle). :w00t:

I'm on 2 times now with people saying no way. :wondering

This lady I talked to was suposed to be the one to talk to for custom orders and the price I got was over $100 for a custom front. Do you have a name of the lady that you talked to? I'd seriously like to get a hold of her. Please help, I keep getting fools there.

I bought a 11 inch front rim from Douglas about 6 months ago, and it costed me around 95 bucks if I remember right.

The way to measure a 4 lug is to measure center to center of two holes directly across from each other. From what I've gathered the the 350X is the same as the 85-86 R so that would be a 4/170mm patten. No idea what that wheel is you bought. A Z wheel would be closer to 5 7/8" the way you measured.

Try Anthony in the custom wheels dept. He was the only one willing to help me when I called about 10-12 months ago.

Anthony is no longer with douglas but here's what I've got:

The lady I was talking to is Jeanie, she's the primary that took over for Anthony. She has said no, they will not make one. I called back and talked to a different lady (name unknown) and she said no last evening. Today I called again and requested someone other then Jeanie and they got me Richard. Richard went to work for me and is doing a good job so far. He looked in past custom jobs for this order and did confirm that they have made it before. He could only find orders for .125 and .160 wall thicknesses and he's going to check with thier tooling department to see if a .190 is possible. He then remembered that since the last one was made they have changed thier tooling process and that this may not even be possible to do yet. He's going to check for me hopefully today, if not monday on if his tooling department sayd they can still do it.

Now if he can do it he said the .190 would be about $100, the .160 about $92 and the .125 about $85. Richard said he personaly wouldn't put a .125 on the front of his trike (he was a trike fan) and that the .160 should be fine with proper air pressure. He also said there would be up to a 3 month waiting period on this so if any of us wanted them we should order them at the same time to speed things up. I'm not to concerned about that but I might order at the same time if someone else interested in doing so.

So this has gone from no to maybe and I'll have the word hopefully today yet if it's yes.

Richard called me back and said they will make a 10" x 6" .190 wheel with a 4/170 pattern!

To greatly simplify this for anyone else looking for this wheel this is the part number to ask for:

Z1000-327

Every wheel they have, custom and regular has a part number. This part number will save anyone the problems I've been having getting them to make the wheel. If you are interested, call Douglas Wheel at 1.760.758.5560, ask for custom wheels and tell them this number. The price is about $100.

There will be a decent waiting period on this wheel so if anyone wants to get one with me let me know here, in a PM or by email. We can save them retooling time by ordering them together.

Hey Oldschool~ Atta-boy for getting that done!! :w00t:

I'll *DEFINATALY* take one for my machine ('85 350x) and by the time it gets completed, I'll be ready for it! Already got a set of Douglas wheels for the rear, so the matching front would be very nice!

Do I call them direct, or get it through you?

Thanks a million! :)

I'll also take one. I'm still a little concerned about a 6" front wheel on a trike. But if that's all we can get, I guess it will have to do.

Good point.

Just for clarification (and so I understand it correctly) the *STOCK* specs of the 250R and 350X front wheel/rim are~

SIZE: 11"x7"
BOLT PATTERN: 4 on 170mm

Correct?

Did I miss anything?

Now just to clarify before anyone orders, they will not guarantee that everything will still work, like that the hub or caliper will fit. I've been talking to pumper and he says his caliper barley clears the his 10" wheel on him flat tracker R. Also he had to shave the hub just a little to squeze in the rim.

I did ask about the 7" and it wouldn't be centered, it would be 3+4 so you'd either have to live with it off center or make a spacer. I'm going to try the 6", pumper said it works great for him.

I'm thinking in the next couple of weeks I'd like to order mine. If we order by the end of the month, these should make some nice christmas gifts!

Bumping this back up. Anyone order one yet?
I'm planning on ordering mine Friday. I really want to get 3, but just 2 will have to do for now. Wonder if there'd a price break in there anywhere?
If anyone else is getting in on these, try to get your order in ASAP. I would bet that the more they get orders for, the faster they will get them done.

By the way, Oldschoolin... Thanks for running with the ball and getting all this leg-work done for us.

No problem Derrick, thank you for all the work you put in too on all these projects. I'm out out on the order though, I'm making an adapter so I can use a front 10" and hub from my 400ex.

why do you all want a 10inch front tire. the only reason i could think of is to get more tire tire options?
