I'm getting ready to order my 10" front wheel from Douglas for my 500R. I'll be installing one of the new Holeshot MXR's in 21x7x10. In the rear I plan to run the 19" Holeshot MXR's. Question is, what size rim should I order for them?

1) 8" for more sidewall and better ride
2) 9" for an OEM look
3) 10" to match the front

I'm running 10" in the rear because I like the feel of them. I hate any flex.

Derrick get the 9" wheels. The side wall will flex good, & you won't wrinkle up the edge of your rim as fast when the tire folds over in the turns. A little sidwall flex adds up to better traction.

If its strictly a track machine, Id go with 10". If you plan on trail riding it, 10" rim's edges will get ground up at a place like Wellsville, and more tire is better rim protection.

Derek, I'd go with a set of 10" rims out back. In a previous post, I believe that you were worried about your tall suspension affecting handling, so a larger diameter wheel & shorter sidewall will help prevent the sidewall from rolling under, which will improve the handling & sliding characteristics. As for the 10" wheels getting dinged up easier, they're only slightly more vulnerable than a 9" wheel. Regardless of whether you choose a 9" or 10" wheel, I'd go with a "rolled edge" type wheel as they're much stronger. Personally, I wouldn't even consider an 8" wheel.

I agree, on an 8 incher, you'll be bouncing/shimmying way too much. I would stick with the biggest, and maybe some Holeshot HD's instead, because they have rim protectors...
