I was just wondering if it is easy to make wheel spacers for a 85 225 dx. I always wanted to get some but dident really do anything about it. Does the local yamaha dealer make wheel spacers for my trike????. It probably would be easier and cheaper for someone to make some, but i wouldent kno. My freind has some thick plastic ones on his. And they have held real good. Does anybody have any unwanted spacers?

wouldnt it be easier to get some round 1/4-1/2-3/4 stainless plates and cut them so that the grooves lined up with the bolt pattern??

I don't have the link, I have a catalog. Ronnie's is the one I ordered my Tri-Z plastic through and they sent me a catalog with it.

Here is the link to thier Yamaha ATV page.

Their site has changed since I last dealt with them. I could not find any trike stuff. I called to get the Tri-Z parts I ordered. So I would assume that would be any ones best way to handle trike orders.

It wouldn't be too hard to make a set of spacers for you. How much width are you looking to gain? 4" total width ( 2" per side ), 8" total width ( 4" per side )?

ive seen some on here that looked amazing, that were home milled too. mine are ok, i dont like them too much. on pavement it tears the tires apart due to the way the atc turns, drags the outside tire. if you look at most of the ones on ebay, they are simple and easy to make. if you have a mill and some time id try it.

lol yea i seen some guy make some but only put 2 tig welds on the tire bolts. i would weld it all the way around. lol. but naw i dont have any thing to make any. I was just wondering. Could i just get some round like spacers say like for an axle (just to get the picture) and get long bolts to hold them, or would that be too weak?

HI
I,m the guy who made those spacers with the mig welds on the back of the studs ,, at the end of the day if the weld did crack the studs would not go anywhere because the nuts are nyloc and I,ve also used Loctite studlock on them!

I just had a set made for my 250-r they are 3" thick & machined out of 6" solid aluminum round stock. I needed mine quick & did'nt have time to wait for shipping. The aluminum cost 4 bucks a pound. The solid chunks weighed 19lbs, $76.00. I did'nt have to pay for the machine work, so I guess I will survive. If I had time to wait I think they can be bought cheeper than $76.00.

lol sorry but barley noticed, those dura blu wheel spacers wouldent work. Cause i have three bolt rims??? Yea only three bolts. Well i guess i will just go to home depot and get some spacers and some longer bolts and strap up with a round spacer with the long bolt holding it all together , and see how that holds. It should hold good cause i think that this is the same concept that these ones are made for??? right????

On the wheel spacers subject, isn't it a fact that the more you space the wheels out, the more leverage it makes per side, which in turn actually weakens the axle and will take less stress from a hard hit to make it bend?

Thats my theory anyway , it seems to be logical :wondering

Also the wider it is the more chance you have of not fitting in between the trees and the extra 1"or two might be just the amount that you misjudge your rear perefial vision and hit a tree and it pa-twangs you off.

That's my other theory so wider isn't always better. For my riding area I'd keep it stock and rather have all the strength the rear axle was tested for and I'm quite sure I did hear the leverage segment talked about on here before.

i guess it could work but not for the trouble it would cause. i would not do it that way. ive never heard of 3 lug rims, but id suggest a wider axle in your case. im thinking of taking off my spacers though, there making my tires wear away faster, and putting alot of stress on the bearings. they kept my wheels on the ground while i was learning though, except the front one haha.

lol, yea well see im like low on cash, so im going for the cheapest look, and i like it when the wheels are extended and the swing arm, but mines shaft drivien so that would cost alot, so i just want to get some spacers.

DX rims have a half inch off set. So, to gain 1" overall just swap your rear rims from side to side. (Valve stems to the inside) 1" isn't much but it is free.
This will allow you to run wider tires & still clear the battery box & the muffler.

lol i try that thanx, im pretty sure im ganna want it more extended, lol. BUT I STILL WANT TO KNOW DO * THINK USEING A SPACER LIKE THIS AND A LONT BOLT WOULD WORK???

I hope you are planning on using the most heavy duty bolts you can find. The longer the bolt the weaker it will be and they can only be so thick for your use. I would not advise using spacers like those cause I think you'll either bust the hub bolts or the axle using that setup. Probably the hub bolts is my guess but I'd wait if I were you and buy a good quality set. If they break and your flying down a trail that could be a very very dangerous.

true, thats what i was thinking, but over here i ride on pavement, so umm ouch, lol i was just wondering if it was ok to do it that way, but wasent really planning on doing it. THanks tho. FREEWHEEL thanks man, i turned the tires around, they dident give much extra space but looks hella better than before. I will put a before and after picture up soon when i get my camera back. THANKS GUYS!!!!

No need to yell and no, it's a horrible idea.

So why wouldn't the Durable spacers work? Edog has told you he has them on his for the 3/100 lug patter that is on the bike you guys have. Keep checking ebay for a cheap set if you can't buy new. If neither of that works then buy some 2 inch thick aluminum plate in the size you need, mark your holes and drill it to go on over the studs. You will need to buy and install longer studs as well.

well they look like the wouldent work. cause the spacers have four holes and my wheels have 3 holes?

You must be looking at the wrong spacers then.

A lot of companies will just use thier most popular pic for several ads. If you're serious about this traxxasx then show some initiative and call the company.
