Well a friend of mine has a 2002 Cannondale 440 for sale. I haven't rode it yet but it looks pretty good. Has anyone rode or own one to give me alittle insite? He used it in a hill climb yesterday and it seemed to have plenty of power. But he can't ride to good. I'll post the video clips latter today if I can find a cable to run from my camcorder too the computer. So lets hear what you guys have to say.

Nicest machine Ive ever rode. I have an 03 speed, and would love to get another, or 2, or 5, or 10 cannondales. There are some reliability issues with the motors, but its kinda hit and miss. Ive seen where some people dont get 15 hours on a motor before the crank bearings go out, and I talked on the phone with a guy last week thats has one with over 300 hours,.... ALL MX racing hours and not a single problem. But he did stay on top of the maintence on it.

They are high maintence, and its about like owning a 20 year old 3 wheeler. Just check everything before you ride, and check it each time you come back to rest. The fuel filters need to be changed every 5 hours of ride time, and oil about every 10 (both tranny and motor.. the motor oil runs through the aluminum frame, and tranny oil stays in the tranny). There are still a lot of parts out there, so dont be afraid of not finding parts for it. The main things with them, do the front motor mount update, and a lot of people say to do the stage 8 bolt update. Ive only done the motor mount, and havent had any problems. The valve covers do leak over time, and thats my next buy, is a new ATK valve cover.

I love mine, and will never buy another machine, unless its another Cannondale/ATK. These babies were ahead of their time for sure, and its to bad things went south with cannondale making them.
