So far me and a friend have knocked down 4 deer in 2 trips. We expect to kill 8 more before the end of our 15 day lottery. Its a doe only hunt and deer are everywhere. No limit to how many you kill, just have to buy doe tags for each one. Its part of some study of crop loss and deer population. Can't wait to get back in the woods thursday when it cools down.....I smell venison! :beer

I did OK. I don't hunt doe anymore. I've shot 2 does in my hunting career, but they were both with a rifle. Although I got a buck on the first day. I've sat in a stand for 3 years with the bow and never got a shot at a buck. Well this year she all changed. I shot a 4 point within the first 30 minutes of sitting in my stand. Its big for a 4 point, and bigger than the 4 and 6 point ive got in my previous years, but I wish it would have been bigger. Although it doesn't matter to me. Its a buck, and its the first deer I've ever got with the bow. And not to mention I have many years of hunting ahead of me to get that "big one".

I've not had any luck so far, I saw 2 does running 2 weekends ago, but as bowhunters know its difficult to make a running shot at 50 yards with a bow! I'm not even using a stand, I stalk with a full ghille suit on, now thats hard hunting! I like getting out in the dark and creeping around, last time I was out I came within like 20 yard of these clueless coyotes and they didnt notice me till I took a run at them really close and they split, it was great. You get alot of pondering done lying on the ground perfectly still along a major game trail in the tall shrubs. Great stuff

Yeah it is. Archery came in on Saturday. Thats the day I went out and shot my buck. The first half hour of the first day, and my season is already over.

OMG, on saturday I frickin cornered a doe with the trike. If I knew season was I would have ran it over and stuck a arrow in it

I'll have to go out saturday after my exhaust is put on.

arent you firmiliar with the huntign laws in pa? bucks have to have 3 points or more on one side to be coincidered leagal, thats why i passed up a ton of deer on the first day, and torward the end of the day, i ended up shootign a mature doe, 140ish lbs. went abotu 20 feet and droped , the split fire heads sire did a mumber and realy opened up to catch bothlungs and cut the one side of the heart, and didnt suffer much atall or anything, hope the rest of the season pans out pretty well, i have been eyeing up a nice 10 pointer runnign around, just havent come within 50 yards of where i have been set up,

Yes I am familiar. But they do not apply to me yet because I am only 15. They only apply to people over 16.

LOl... I'm waiting to get that POS grizzly running cause I hate dragging deer out of the woods. If it were up to me I'd rather eat them were they drop.

I'll be out Saturday morning before the sun comes up! I can hardly wait!

 This is what I think. Take a .17HMR and a bow. Shoot the deer with the HMR and stick a arrow through the bullet hole. Its small enought it might work. But I have another issue... Junior pheasant starts saturday too and since I was able to get my junior lisence again I can hunt that day. So I may have to do both :D Oh how tough life is.

Hey wasn't there a post or thread about somebody racing a doe, and the doe cut in front, and the guy flipped over?

EDIT: Whoops! Chrisr200x you were born in 73' lol.

there is a small doe out my back door I could pick off but what fun would that be ?

A cross bow takes the fun out of it. Is more thrilling have adrenaline running through your veins as you try and cover up what you did before the game warden sees

I live in the woods. I have about a 800 foot driveway leading up into the woods. So the other night we were coming home. We entered my driveway, and I see some glowing eyes. We got closer and we realized it was a deer. Then the next day the samething happens. But this time my step father saw it. Last year I looked out my front door to see 4 deer about 100 feet away grazing on the edge of my lawn. It was amazing. Then last year around this time I was up in my woods looking around. I was sitting on a rock. Then all of a sudden this HUGE buck comes walking out. About 200 feet from me. This thing was massive. Man I tell ya, my property which is only 10 acres, has more deer than the entire 400 acre woods! On top of that I see mink, fisher cats, theres been bear sitings out here, I saw moose tracks one year, theres skunks everywhere, racoons, possums, tons of foxes, cyots, beaver. This year I was hunting for a fox that kept taking out chickens. I was only using a pellet gun. I shot him once pretty good and he never came back. All of this in Massachusetts. I live probably about 45 mins away from the Berkshires. Best part is most of the woods is protected space. So all these animals will always keep coming back.

Yeah we have about 11 acres and every morning there is about 6 deer in my lawn eating acorns when I go to school and by the time I grab the gun they take off. Several mornings there were several flocks of turkeys, maybe totaling 25 birds.

My dad got a 7 point with a 21 inch spread from the same stand that I got my four point from.. he got it on Wednesday. My family went out hunting today, too. My uncle is the only archery hunter in our family that hasn't got a buck yet (me, my dad, and my uncle are the only ones that hunt archery). So we all went out with our .22 mags (my dad.. hunting coyotes), .17's (my cousin.. first year of hunting.. hunting squirrels, chipmonks, or whatever he can get), and me with my 16 gauge hunting pheasants, grouse, ring necks, turkeys.. anything with wings. Well we all went out and put on drives for my uncle. He saw 1 doe all day until the last drive of the day when we chased 3 big bucks out to him. One he said was an 8 point that was descent sized, but had short horns.. the next to come along was a nice 7 point, although it had messed up horns he said it was still a nice deer, and the last one that came along was 30 yards from him.. it was a 10 point with a 23-24 inch spread (he guessed), and atleast 10-12 inch high points (he guessed that too). He said he had never seen a buck that big while hunting with a bow, and he decided to pull back on this sucker and take a smack at it, even though it was 30-35 yards away. Well none the less, he let 'er fly and missed. He said the arrow skimmed and went right over its back and straight into a tree. It was pretty funny though because this is the 2nd big buck he has missed this year in a 1 week time period. We went to check out where he said it hit the tree, and the broadhead was halfway into the tree and had a tiny tuft of deer hair stuck to it. The whole hunting party laughed at him, and he flipped us off.. haha.
