View Full Version : 185s Has Spark Now...new Problem! Help!

Took the advice and changed the stator again. It did putter and backfired and black smoke came out every time. Changed intake valve, new gaskets and good compression.
Any advice or help would be appreciated.

not to sound stupid but when i got my 185 i forgot to losen the A/F screw :lol: so then it wouldnt get gas. it would fire but only on starter fluid. When i started it, it ran just how you discribed yours running, so i just thought it could be a possibility?
ran fine later with a few adjustments.

OK...thanks for the advice however..Our is not even running. WHen you pull start it it just pops and backfires like a puff of black smoke. The engine don't rev up or idle or anything????
I am going to look into the valves right now.

ok i checked the valves they was a little loose tightened them to .003 put back together and crack snapple pop. i also tried to turn the cdi around 180 stop the snap crackle pop but nothing. pulled plug got gas put a little in plug and still nothing turned cdi back around well any suggestions? oh and the spark still looks good.
