I see that Maier makes a front fender for the Z, I was wondering if anyone had one?
How does it fit?
Is it worth buying one, or should I just keep looking for a stock white one?

i have one on my yellow tri-z. the head pipe doesnt even come close to hitting the LRD exhaust. i just ordered a white one from chapparrel. they were the cheapest i could find. you can not really notice a difference between oem and maier if you ask me plus if an oem did turnn up on ebay it would go high in mint dhape good luck mike

A stock white one is a tough find. If you really want stock you may have to put alot of elbow grease into wet sanding or wait for ever and get into a serious bid war. Mine was yellowed pretty bad... after 3-4 hours of wet sanding on many separate days they will have become a crisp white and i'm still not done (Dammit knows my pain).
Maeirs are nice... I have one on my black Z and unless you are up close and know how the stock looks and feel you wont notice much of a difference. Just the typical heavier plastic and a little more rounded off around the mold lines and a slightly different round off pararallel to the front tire (not as bad as the 250r maier.
Another option is a Big wheel front fender....I bought one and have see them NOS on ebay... I havent tried bolting it on yet it looks like it may need a couple spacers but the bolt holes line up. Pics will follow I may go out and try bolting it on in the next hour or so.
Side Note:::Mike the 86 swingarm looks to be the same silver as the 85

as for a white fender if you are looking for an oem one ill sell you mine. it has been started on the sanding you have to look close but if you just want a white fender this one is good to go. pm if thats the color you need later

Mike, did your OEM one hit? I had to trim the bottom half off of my stock fender to keep it from rubbing and I have the same pipe. Hmmm....

Pics of maier vs Stock vs factory big wheel fender
Black is maier, white is stock , and the bigger white one is factory BW
Here 's my review
Stock
Cant beat stock but try to find a glossy one. Very crisp lines and looks slightly bigger.
Maier
Maier is great but next to the stock is looks slightly deflated. My best anology would be to over inflate a tire looks firm....(thats stock!!!) Maier looks like its underinflated.. I dont think the picture shows the more rounded off lines throughout the whole fender. I buy them (maier) and if your going to be riding the machine I say buy maier.
Big Wheel fender
Cant say that I'm crazy about the fit .. The ridge in the front interferes with the headlight...It wil work but you need to get longer bolts and spacers. For the picture I just put the longer bolts in. The bonus here is Ive seen these brand new on ebay

I'm working on a deal for a stock white one. I hope it wont hit this unidentified expansion chamber I have though.
Well if it dose hit you know where that pipe can go to a good home ;)

The only that isnt made for the Z now is headlight shells. I'm going to have to paint one white.

Thanks for those comparisons, OC250R. I have always wondered about the BW fender, and now I know that it looks really dumpy, especially from the side. It just looks fat. I'd take a Maier fender anyday, only because OEM ones don't come around that often.

I have to paint it. It wouldnt look right with an all white Tri-Z and a red, black or yellow headlight. At the place I work in the bodyshop they have special promoters and additives to make the paint flexible.
To demonstate how good it is, they painted a paint mixing cup and let it dry. Then put it in the freezer for a few hours and then squeezed the cup and the cup snapped in half and the paint stayed perfect.
