I am picking up a sweet little 8hp Allis Chalmers lawn tractor saturday, no mower deck, but i dont need it, i am modding it to PULL!!

i already got the super charger set aside at work (ohh yea, its PIMP!) and i found a header off an old International tractor that i am going to mod to work.

The mechanic where i work has it, he said i can have it for a case of beer, it runs, he just wants it gone, and he wants to drink this weekend, hahaha, he has a Massey that he did up to, Bassani pipe off a trike that he put on it, 44mill pumper carb off a jet ski, supercharger (thats where i got the idea, lol) and mud tires on the back, its awesome, lol

does anyone know any allis chalmers message boards, or lawn tractor pulling message boards i can pop by and get some info? i am re painting this winter at the shop and modding the motor this winter too so i can pull this summer

woot, picked up a header pipe and electronic tach today for 10 bucks at my work, the header pipe is going to mount right off the manifold and run it straight back to the middle of the foot rests and have it curve out to run as side pipes.

mounting the tach right onto the hood, dont think i am using the supercharger though, i dont want to grenade the motor, so i am just going to polish the manifolds and hone the cylinder, thinner head gasket for more compression, and stiffer valve springs...

All and all, this project is goign to cost me:
Case of beer for tractor
10 dollars for header and tach
0.0 dollars to hone cylinder (i have a hone at my house)
5.00 dollars to polish manifolds (using buddies polishing tool, he charges me 5 bucks to use it)
3.50 dollars per valve spring
6.50 dollars for the headgasket

I am not including paint and sand paper and such, as that isnt motor mods and it dont cost me that much to sand down and re paint a hood and fenders....

Will post pictures on saturday!

cool sounds like it'll be a cheap puller. Ever think of getting a smaller drive belt? A couple of friends of mine switched the belts around and made it go MUCH faster. Dunno if this makes sence since I'm not a lawn tractor kind of guy, just an idea.

Just wondering about a couple things
1. Are you going to do any internal tinkering with the gears to get it to pull better?
2. I take it they dont have a high comp piston for it so your just using the thinner gasket?
3. If it was me I'd get some even smaller tires so it has more torque.

no internal gear messing with, no, its a pretty low comp piston in them, so just a thinner gasket should boost it up a bit, i am changing the pulleys (found out its belt drive, this may turn into a problem...) for the tires, i am thinking ATV tires, mudzillas?? lol, just kidding!!

Not sure on tires yet, i will find something though, i have all winter to build it up.

P.S. the pinstripping i am doing will surely add 15 hp!!

Try simpletractors.com thats an allis site. If its an 8hp then its probobly an early 70's B-208. I've got one. Along with abou 50 other lawn tractors. Mostly simplicity's. Simplicity made Allis Chalmers.

I got it home today, it fired right up after throwing booster cables on it, no battery in it,

Popped it into first gear, let the clutch out and i was staring at the sky, this thing wheelies like mad!! no brakes on it so just jam the clutch in and you dont stop! I am lovin it!

Pictures up soon, i might go out and work on it some more

The links just show the throttle handle i made, its just out of plastic piping that i jammed on, then heated up with a solder gun so it wouldnt fall off, its not staying on though, its only temporary

Exactly, if you need parts or help it's really a Simplicity.
