I'm gonna be adding them to our Links and Parts pages next update. This is really good news for you 250R owners, you can finally have a nice shiny new tank without having to spend 2 weeks worth of sanding and plastic polishing. Great news that Clarke is stepping up to the plate for this one.

I want one.

Then get one dude...their a helluva lot cheaper then an OEM tank (Thats only available in black now). $170 for a brand new nice shiny gas tank doesn't sound like a bad deal at all to me.

Awesome! I'd like to get a white one! :Bounce :beer

Man, I wish they'd do 86/87 KXT tanks. I only want lime green on that.

Ditto on the Kawi, they make a buck or two redoing both year tecate tanks, almost all the ones I have seen are faded.

Well, if they have good luck selling these R tanks (And they should) then they'll be inclined to move onto the KXT's I bet.

I bought one of their white plastic tanks for my 1985 350x and the quality is very slick! I only hope that it won't "stain" to a different color when racing fuel is used....

Anyone know for sure? Thanks! :)

Billy, thats great news and Im glad we are going to have a sort of "partnership" with Clarke of sorts ..... the thing is, it should be reciprocal. Ask Chris if they could make mention of 3WW anywhere on their official website as well. "As seen featured in 3WW..." or something. Now that would make it a true "Partnership" especially since they are going to be getting all this exposure for "free". We do have a viewership in the thousands and its truely an international one at that. Maybe, they could send you a tank for testing and a report ..... long shot, I know ... lol.

"RED, WHITE, BLACK, NATURAL and other colors"

Any idea what the "other" colors are going to be?

I'd really like to see one of their black tanks in person. The Honda one is not a gloss black. It's more like a satin finish. Once some better pics are available and some first hand reports on quality come out, I might ebay one of my OEM tanks and pick one up.

What is this all about? I didn't know this "forum/site" was out to "reciprocate" anything but knowledge through networking IMO!?!?!
I'm just thrilled to hear about the AFORDIBLE 250R tank replication! that is all:w00t:

However, if ya can get a FREE tank outa the deal then more power to ya... :naughty:

I've been approached to do paid advertising on the site before by multiple different companies/individuals. I've always turned it down (And probably will in the future too) because I want this to just remain a neutral pure enthusiasts forum. I could say I'm not "getting anything" out of adding them to the links page or making this post, but I WILL need a 250R tank sometime in the future and alot of other people will too. Its important to me that since Clarke spent the time and money on the R&D to get this tank in production that I atleast do my part to make sure its profitable to them. Because if its not, they'll be less inclined to do special projects like this for us or other groups in the future. I look at as, they are doing a service for me/us by providing this tank, and I can provide them one back by atleast doing my part to make it known to other people with an interest.

If anyone gets upset with you for accepting paid advertising, that's just nuts. It's not anybody elses business first of all, and this isn't a review site where you have to wonder about opinions being bought like in the magazines etc. I say sell some advertising space. Get as much as you can. You guys put in the work. If you have the oppurtunity to get a little return on your investment of time and money, that's your right (and the American way I might add). Advertise away and don't think twice. I got your back. :beer

Well, I appreciate you guys' comments. In addition to what I said above, I just in particular have a thing against banner ads in general. I dont like seeing them on other sites and would really prefer not to see them here.

But anyways, back to the Clarke 250R gas tanks. I really excited and glad they're making some. I think its definetly a step in the right direction for the aftermarket to start supporting us where the OEM is discontinuing more and more parts.

Man, this is great news! For years we have had only a few choices for tanks, and now Clarke is finally catering to us. Go figure, I just got off the phone with my buddy back in Oklahoma, and I was talking about an 85 roller that he just picked up. I even said "Clarke doesn't make tanks for one. Your only choice is to sand the original, or get a three gallon IMS tank."

You seriously need to re-read my statement .... notice I never made any mention of money or paid advertising. The reciprocation comes in the form of "FREE" advertising for both sides. Clarkes motivation is driven by increasing profits through the use of this website made better by the fact that we dont charge for advertising - lets not fool ourselves here. I don't want to make them sound sinister either, but business really is business. Since I've known Billy, he's never waivered from his vision of a non-sponsored, pure enthusiasts website about the sport we all love and I support him 100% in that. We've talked about ads a few times in our MOD rooms over the years - but - it always ends up with keeping 3WW that pure enthusiasts resource. I don't want to see his vision or more importantly, his hard work exploited in any way by anybody, unless its to our advantage in even some small way. Our advantage can be defined as helping our sport and this website be better. I like Clarke products, I would recomend them to anybody and I think it would stand as a service to direct the viewers of this website to Clarke for their needs. By also mentioning us on their website, I also think that the same could be said from their point of view, if you were to look at 3WW as a "Brand" or product, whos ultimate goal isn't a tangible item, but rather education or resource. Thats the reciprocation.

Read my initial post then too, Did I mention $ either!?!? NO! I was just under the impression, from your first post, that some "unknown / shady" venture may be going on. Reminding me of some "bad blood" between certain people from here, don't even know any of em personaly, over this type of senerio. That is all mostly, well... the add banner thing came to mind which I was glad to read later is a NO NO so far. The "admin" for this site, whomever that may be, should get some perks IMO (whatever that my be). Anytime someone here "plugs" anothers products its GREAT FREE advertising enough, & I'm sure the MODs wouldn't let that get outa hand either, right. ;)

Is the natural finish clear?

Billy Golightly
10-14-2005, 03:51 PM
I dont think the natural finish is like glass clear, but yeah clear enough you can see the fuel pretty well. Its probably more of a smokey type color. I dont know for sure though, give them a call.

3leggeddog has an all black R I believe. I thought it was one of the sickest looking trikes at Trikefest this year. Not only does it look great but it hauls some ass and sounds mean as hell. Let's see a pic Dog!!!

I just recieved it today. It fits great, however it is only a semi- gloss finish. I would rather have a high gloss finish but it is better than nothing. Overall it is a nice tank.
