Showa is company that makes suspenion components. Most Hondas use Showa forks. Did the 83 maybe have Kayaba forks and you could switch to Showa?

It's probably not worth getting new forks,,,, just reuild yours with some proggressive springs and play with different for oil weights till you find what you ike,,,,, I'm sur its probably cheaper than new forks,,,,,,,,, good luck

I thought the forks were painted black on my parts bike. but it turns out they are aftermarket. or off another bike. they have a decal that says Showa 965003. I just wanted to know if I could get parts for it still. I'm trying to pull my swingarm bolt. Won't come out! Heated it up and now I have a bar clamp on it with tension. any other tricks.

I have never had a prob with my swingarm bolt,,,, but what I would recommend is get a centerpunch that fits the center of the threaded end and give it a few taps witha hammer,,,,, just becareful you dontmushroom the end,,,,, also heat always helps, whatever you do, tr to keep it eated at the same time,,,,,,, Good luck

last week i spent at least a couple of hours beating the swing arm bolt out of a parts 200x.
heat, penitrating oils,,, more heat (small fire) sore arm from beating the dogcrap out of it. oh yeah, some words my daddy taught me at a young age when he had troubles with something.

it finally come out and found it was more rusted in the center on mine.
and to my amazement i didn't even screw it up too bad.

If you choose to beat on it, put the nut back on the pivot bolt but run it down just far enough to be flush with end of the pivot bolt. then you can wale on it like mad and run less of a risk of screwing up the threads. Once it breaks free, remove the nut and keep driving it out with a punch.

Thank you Dirtcrasher!!

It's an MX replica. It's got the "airbox" tank, +2 West Coast Swingarm, Bill's Pipe, CT Silencer, Clamp-On Uni Filter, 18" Turf Tamers, UFO screen number plate and disc guard, and a few other odd's and ends. It runs great and is a blast to ride.
