Heres my Dilema. I have a little bit of money because I sold my Zinger through this most awesome site:beer
Anyway the Nozzle on the Tecate Bottle got Chewed off when It came loose and ended up between my Chain, swingarm and sproket. Its all polished and powdercoated but now it needs a bottle and a full rebuild. I got my eye on a Tecate shock now, but I allso have my eye on a Perfect looking and working 2001 Raptor shock.
Now heres the dilema. With the Tecate shock I will need to get a bottle and hose im sure. Plus it needs to be rebuilt. Were talking $200 easy I bet. Or I could hopefully get the Raptor shock for around $150.
The thing with the Raptor shock is that I called ELKA and they said they could hook up the Raptor rear shock dual rate and all the other goodies. The Tecate shock they cant do anything with. I really like the Idea of having a ELKA built Raptor shock on my Tecate with the +2 Cal-Fab for handleing purposes and that = more saftey for my Ride and myself. Would you put a high end rear shock on your racer or do you think stock is fine? Let me know what ya think. oh yea $375 gets the full treatment on the Raptor shock by ELKA

rebuild the raptor shock, but make sure they know its NOT going on a raptor, so they valve it correctly.

Go with the Raptor shock! Went jumping with mine Friday and its smooth and easy to set up for the riding your doing. I cranked the preload up and slowed down the rebound for jumps and to handle the extra leverage of the +2 swinger.

Heres another idea, the Raptor guys are using the Yfz450 shocks so couldn't you use the rear in the Tecate or does it have a piggy back resivor.

Best of luck Meat, your bike looks sweet!

just a little fyi for you guys: if you remove your air box on your tecate you can use a rapter shock with a piggyback rezzi. you can kind of see the rezzi in this pic of my tecate (sorry for the bad angle)

Yes...the linkage system on the Tecate's is vastly different then the raptor's and will throw your shock valving all out of whack if they aren't told what its going on. If you got the cash, definetly send it to Elka and have them add their dual rate spring setup to it and have it revalved.
