I am about to have to put a clutch in my 86 250R and I dont know if there is any damage to the clutch basket or pressure plate yet. I have one for an 85 model that looks good if there is some damage to mine. Will they interchange. I am thinking that they will but I want to be sure.
Thanks
Will

Needs clutchs, cable and now maybe a bearing:rolleyes:  I am already broke having to put the stuff on my credit card trying to get it ready for the ride in 2 weeks. What a hobby we have...

Heh, relax. It's literally one ball bearing. I think they're 21 cents at service honda. ;)

Be real careful when you pull the little cap off the clutch assembly (you'll know it when you see it). That's where the ball is. Mine was completely siezed inside the cap so it didn't fall out.

You can get the '89 clutch upgrade kit from service honda for like 50 bucks I think. That's what I did.

i change my clucth plates, in my 225 dx , and im 16 its super ez just pay attetion where everything goes. If your pressure plates are worn just rub them on the concrete some to get some grooves. Lol, but i thought my centrifical force clutch went out, but the springs on it were broke, but that wasent it, so i took my apart about 4 times, and my first and secound gear plates were smoother than a babys but, lol.

Great, I was thinking it was going to be something that was going to be a smoking high price (the clutch is high enough O.E.M.) but that makes me feel alot better. I am going to tear it down this weekend so I can get everything underway. I will prolly hold off on the upgrade until next time around because I dont have the cash to be doing all this in the first place, but I gotta ride it. Everytime I open the shed door I swear it and the 350X are just looking at me....waiting there turn lol.
Thanks for the help Dammit and everyone else.

Watch for the flat washer behind the basket and the needle bearings, very important that all those parts are there and in good shape. Good idea to replace those needle bearings, they are not expensive and can buy them from commercial suppliers. Put a penny between the clutch and crankshaft gears to hold the shafts while loosening the clutch basket nut, the penny will squish instead of damaging the gears.

Ok, thanks, I checked on the needle bearings, there not that bad but that OEM clutch, Whoa! kinda steep i must say.
