Hi all, in your opionins what would the cost be to rebuild a 85 250r from the bottom up. Bore it out to .040( i think that what he said). It seized up last weekend and would like to get it fixed. About how much in parts? I just want a idea on how much it will be so I don't get ripped off. I don't know much about these things. Thanks all

Id completely rebuilt mine, transmission and all, every bearing and seal for around $400 in parts. I did all the work except for crankshaft disassembly and reassembly, that takes machine shop.

Boring it and installing a piston is guranteed to destroy both the bore and piston in
< 10 minutes. A 2 stroke cannot be done that way, it has to be bored, honed and chamfered in that order. I even go as far as to massage the piston. Boring only sizes the cylinder and removes the ovality, but if the cylinder is not conditioned, its all wasted.

If it seized, then its not likely the rod bearings and crank bearings are good. Its a waste of time and money to put it back together on damaged crank bearings.

I had a friend look at it and he said the crank shaft cracked and seized the motor. So I will need to have a complete motor rebuild. When I do have it done, I will have them put in good components and set it up for power and speed.
