My buddy brought his Polaris 425 4x4 over for me to check it out and after figuring out some wiring problem's and stuff it still has some problem's with spark. You can push the start button all you want and it will not spark at all until you let off of the start button, then it will have one nice blue spark and that's all. I was kinda thinking it was something in the switch, but when I took it apart the inside of the switch looked real good. The handle bar was a little rusty underneath the switch so I sanded it thinking it needed a ground or something up there, but then I realized after that didn't work that the handle bar come's from the factory with paint on it so I black taped it and it still only had the one spark when you let off of the start button. I tried a coil off of a running 250 Polaris Trailblazer on the 425 ( I know they are complete opposite quad's) but it only produced the one spark when you let off also. Therefore I am assuming the coil is good. I would have switched out C.D.I. box's but they are completley different. I am usually pretty clueless when it come's to electrical problem's and was hoping somebody on here could help. Oh yeah, it has a new spark plug too just to let you know. Thank's for any help.

Moved this to the quad forum Zack.

Sounds to me like some of the wires are crossed up in the harness. Have you got a service manual for it? I'd check a wiring diagram and compare it to what you have on the machine.

Check all the grounds, & all the power feed wires going to your starter, & starter relay. You could be loosing the ground, or power to your coil, only when under heavy load from the starter drawing on the battery. A loose ground would be my first guess.

Cool, thank's Billy. I never go to the quad section so I forgot it was here lol. Anyway, the guy doesn't have a manual to check the diagram against the panel, but the panel's on Polaris's show where to plug the different colored wire's and everything is correct now. Thank's Jason on the tip, I will check that out within the next couple of day's if I get a chance.
