I'm looking into having my frame & swingarm PCed. I don't have any idea what it should cost, one place quoted like $350 for the frame & swinger. The following is list from a local powder coater.
Pricing for custom projects:
Frame Single Coat $155.00 2nd Coat $25.00
Swing-arm Single Coat $45.00 2nd Coat $15.00
Skid Plate Single Coat $12.00
Tanks Single Coat* $80.00 (stock) 2nd Coat* $75.00 (stock)
Jugs Starting* $145.00 - $1, 300.00
Are those prices competitive? I'm not worried to much about my small parts I can do them myself, as long the part will fit in a toaster oven(lol).

I got quoted by a guy for everything on my tri-z: frame, swingarm, motor, footpegs, handlebars, etc. $280 CAD for it all with blasting. I thought that was a really good deal.

My total powder bill was more than I thought. I told someone in the open forum it was $600, but it's actually $655 so far. The list is as follows:
Frame: 300
Wheel Halves: 20 each (120 total)
Those were the big ticket items. I have had everything that is supposed to be black powdered black, and the wheels were powdered silver, along with the wheel plates. All the little things that have added up are things like footpegs, taillight bracket, and various bits and pieces. I still have a few pieces to go, things like the headlight brackets and stuff.... So, my total bill will probably equal about $750 for everything on the trike that should normally use paint, not including the tank and forks of course. I should mention that each of these prices include sandblasting. They told me that a good powdercoater will blast everything just before powder to ensure a good finish. Care should also be taken to make sure all parts are grease free or it can create "fisheyes" which are essentially bubbles in the powder. Any gouges or wear marks can be brazed using a torch... I should also mention that this was in a small town above San Diego, and the shop was the only powdercoater in town. Let me know if you need anything else. James

I got a "guesstimate" over the phone a while back for my R. Every single piece of the bike that's painted instead of polished (excluding the engine) would likely run between $350-400 but that was for a two layer job on the frame and a few other parts. Would be less if everything was solid, single color.

My big fear with powder is how close it matches the OEM color. For the X I gave a local guy the paint code and got it back a couple shades off. He said it was as close as he could get it. No ones ever noticed it but myself, still it bothers me. For the Z Im staying away from powder. Just my two cents worth.

Yeah... I didn't try and compare the black too much.... It looks spectacular, don't get me wrong, but I am not sure of the match. The silver was VERY close, and we looked through a lot of shades. If you are looking for perfection, I would try and find out which codes Mike Palmgren uses at Vintage Motorsports (.net). He would be the matching authority as his work is for Honda Japan.
