I blew the motor in my 250sx. Timing chain was off and eventually slipped. I've been told by a local small engin repairsman and ATV dealer that the sx engine and the 250 big red are identical. I juts wanted to know if anyone else had gone through the same thing with their sx or big red or even any other bike.
If I can get an sx or big red engine I was thinking of getting a 250R engine. I think it might fit but with a lot of tinkering. Grear box and all would have to come out. My buddy now is in the process of puttin a 400ex engine into a big red. I think that that will be pretty thick. She'll move along at a savage speed. A 400ex can do about 120 any ways, cut off a hundred pounds and ohhhhh mannnnnn.
Any way I was just wondering if anyone could drop a hint of how I could:TrikesOwn :pics: danielchidley@hotmail.com[/FONT]

I think you might want to put this in Trikesylvannia..

It would be a big project to swap a 250R motor in there, 250sx's are shaft driven, R's are chain.
It would be tougher to fit a differant motor in there than it would be to rebuild the one you have.

In order to put an R engine in their you need to take the complete rear from an R, possibly redrill holes to hold the swinger on their, take the engine mounts from the R and weld on to the sx frame, ect, ect...

If you want to make it better for the same amount of money have someone make a 200x front end for you to drop into a SX frame, rebuild the motor, get a new rear shock (from somewhere good like works), and a performance exhaust like a supertrapp.

Either the Big red 250... or maybe the TRX 250 ( not 100 % sure on the TRX thing.. but i looked at one last week and maaaaan... it's some close !!! )

Forget about chain drive SX frame..... just buy an R if that's what you want.. seriously.. For the time and money involved.. and what you end up with.. unless you are one heck of a fabricator.. and if you were. you would not be asking this question.. you'd be posting pictures of how you plan to do it !! lol......

Can't be that bad.. new bore.. valves. springs.. chain and tensioners.. piston and at the very worst.. a conecting rod..

Good luck.
