Buddy of mine has a Rappy thats pretty stock aside from a +1 tooth on the front sprocket. In any case what are some cheap mods that I can get him to do? He has a aftermarket pipe on order, HMF I think. Also I believe he is going with a KN filter.
What jetting changes can he make?
Drilling the airbox cover any good?
The cheap stuff is what I'm after, easy stuff that sees gains.

The best thing he can do is keep his valves adjusted. They automatically tighten on the Raptors where other machines they loosen. I just did 3 machines in a row with the same issue.
Machine 1 had 65lbs of compression before and 165 after.
Machine 2 had 94lbs and 135 after, and machine 3 had 105 before and 190 after.
Performance was night and day different of curse along with easier starts.

I went down a tooth on the front sprocket to a 12 tooth and that made it even more torquey. Depends on where he rides though. I ride trails. Id say just take the airbox lid off. i have mine on and im jetted like 146/148. I guess with the lid off you need to jet up to 165/170 so that should make a difference. 11.1 piston and stage 1 cam are only like $130-$140 a piece. Main thing with the raptors is opening them up and let them breath. A little extra compression never hurt either.

I Have a full alba exhaust and k&n and i jetted my bike with a 165 and 170 jets and it runs awsome really fast. Then i added the stge 1 cam and it made a huge difference it felt like 7 more hp on a 50 hp machine it was great. I also made a custom front lowering kit for my raptor from parts from the Home Depot that cost me around $22 so its a great thing to have. It really gives you the compedative edge you need when racing lighter quads cause you dont pull whellies anymore no matter how hard you lay on the throttle. You just hook up and go and believe me it feels like you going so much faster because your lower to the ground and you get to feel all the torque down low where the raptor makes it with out having to let off the gas because of you pulling a huge whellie. My raptor kills my brothers kx250f dirtbikes in a straight drag race and they make 50 hp and they weight 200lbs dry. Then when we race around the field i can take corners way faster also because of my lowering kit. Look if you ever see those cars on tv drifting and spinning tires around corners then get or make like i did your own lowering kit cause it makes a world of difference. I didnt even need to but a rear lowering kit all i did was lwoer my rear shock as low as it would go and i was set to ride. If you got questions on how i made my front lowering kit or anything just ask and ill tell you because i wish someone had tips for me when i did mine.
Do you see that picture of my raptor there see how low it is. It sits lower then the yfz 450 and im not joking. My buddy has a 450 and we compared them and my 660 sits about a inch lower then his 450.
