Hi folks,

My wife and I are on vacation and we've been driving all-across the USA for the last two weeks seeing and doing everything we can. :)

Well, today, while we were driving Southbound on I-14 in Eastern California next to the Sierra Neveda Mountain Range, we came upon an open riding area set up by the CLM, where there was an ATV and motorcycle rental facility there. I rented a 2003 400ex Quad for my wife and a 2003 Honda XR400 for me. (that bike is damn heavy BTW...)

We went riding fpr two hours on some of the funnest areas I've ever been on and I actually climbed tp the top of a 437 ft. mountain!!:w00t: The guy at the station said that there is approx. 20,000 acres of open land to discover!!! We both had a great time and are planning to go there again sometime!

Has anyone ever gone there? If so, do you live around there someplace?

BTW- I'm typing this from a Hotel in Ventura, CA. where we are staying for the night, so if I don't get back to you right away, you'll know why. I'll be back here briefly again in the morning before we take off, as we're staying at a Holiday Inn in Hollywood tomorrow, so I'll get back on line then!

Thanks guys and I hope I can meet some of you while we're out here! :) :beer

Ive been there, Never with the trike, only the bike and truck. That whole area (jawbone, california city, donve springs and Spangler hills) is HUGE. I liked the area on a bike but most the trails seemed whooped out so that wouldnt be the best on a trike. But let me know when ** goin again and ill see if i can make it.

nope, maybe if you were headed out towards las vegas with ** atc's you could stop by apex with is right next to the las vegas motor speedway just apex is a stop ** LVMSW. They got some preety big hills and trails that go for miles. If i were to guess to say how big it is i would have to say like 500.000 acres. its pretty cool/

We are finishing up our vacation in Las Vegas Wed-Thurs-Fri of next week and do plan on visiting the Speedway, so we'll be right in the area where you suggest. :)

I've been to the Speedway before a few years ago, as I was an engine builder and crew member for an SCCA Pro-Racing, World Challenge C5-R Corvette back in 2000-2001 racing season. My wife wanted to see where we raced in the past, not to mention it being just a darn good place to visit while were here. :)

I really like the riding areas out here and we'll definataly be back soon with a trailer-load of our machines so we can have some fun!! :w00t:

Yeah, I go all the time. In fact I was at jawbone last tuesday and flipped my 250r on a super steep sand hill. That and dove springs which is just north of jawbone are my local riding spots. There are many cool loops to do out there. One of our favorites is from jawbone across the 14 to last chance and opal canyons, killer sandwashes with some very cool rock formations. There are some kick ass sand hills and worm turns in the dove springs area. There is also a killer loop up sc103 through a sandwash then up into the sierra mountains on pretty tight trail. My R barely fith the trail. As far as the whoops go they are no problem on the 250R but maybe I'm used to it. A trike in that area will smoke a quad with similar riders on board. How long are you here for? I'd love to show you another spot called rasor road off the 15 past barstow. Open desert and canyouns with a nice set of dunes thrown in. It's my new favorite. I've got a spare 250R if you can make it. Let me know next time you are out here, we'll go ride. I'm stoked someone on tyhe board got to see my riding areas. Enjoy the rest of your trip.....Dove

Hi Dove-

Thanks for the invite! I'd really like to take you up on it, as it sounds like it would be a blast! :) We're in the Renassance Motel in downtown Hollywood at the moment, so we won't be going back that way to meet up with you unfortunately...:( We leave California for the drive to Vegas tomorrow and we fly out of there for home on Friday morning.

The next time we come this way, we'll definately ping this board and maybe we can meet up with a few of you local guys somewhere! That would be cool!!:w00t: That's what's trick about this board.....there's always someone, somewhere riding 3-wheelers to ride with!!!!:beer
