I designed and am about to build a redneck snow blade for my trike. I will use it to plow light snow that is about 6 inches deep or so. I am going to put it on my 1985 Honda 125m that has high and low range tranny. I was wondering, should I use, high or low range:confused: and what gear I should have it in:confused: . Its is a 4 speed for those of you who do not know
Thanks:)

You should use low range, gear will be decided by the amount of snow on the ground and the resistance that it gives to the plow.

If there is alot of snow should I use first, or should i use 2nd, will second gear have more torque for better pushing and traction?
Thanks

It depends on the snow situation. This would be something that you will need to learn by trial and error. I would use low range for almost all of the plowing unless it was a dusting and then I'd use high. Just wait till the snow flies and try and see what works the best for you. Good luck to you.

Just listen to your motor, if you sounds like your revving too much, shift to a higher gear, or if you can't get enough power and your engine wont rev up, shift lower. Your snow situation is probaly the same as here in manitoba, you will probaly need to use low gear and maybe 1st out of 4 for most of the heavy stuff.

You should post the plans on this plow you speak of :)

Well what I plan to do is come of the side of the footpegs with 3 feet of metal tubing going forward to the front tire. from there I will have a piece of steel about a foot or so long connected to a metal push snow shovel but of course I will take off the wood bar that comes out of the shovel end. I will tilt the shovel so hopefully it will slide off the side.
