on my tri-z when i turn the choke on it will rev up high and clean. This is with a new 38mm carb. Is the pilot to big, small, dirty?? :wondering Before when i had my old carb on it would try to choke out when i turned the choke on. This is when the machine is warmed up.

if it turns out you stretched your powerband lemme know. I'll hook ya up with some brand new aftermarket ones in any color you want. I even have yellow to match your machine. you gain 30rpms if your colors match :w00t:
The other aftermarket power-bands give you throttle response throughout the rpm range and have a non slip coating plus they are easy to install. Only $19.99, thats $10 off the sticker price

Its too lean most likely, choke adds extra fuel so an increase in speed = too lean. Being a new carb, I doubt its jetting, Id look for an air leak instead - the carb should be jetted fairly close out of the box.

You think it could be an air leak? It runs great in the mid and topend, It idles fine too.

Choke on is rich for starting- Speed increase is from added fuel. Its running too lean. check the plastic tubes that go to the bowl vents. if they are restricted the bowl wont fill to capacity, leaning out the mix. just pop them off momentarily, and see if things change.
