Well,

I just got back from my first trip to Glamis sand dunes T-day weekend and :w00t:

I had a great time, we left out on Thursday night and spent the night in El Centro hotel. Got out to the dunes early in the morning. Couldn't wait to go for my first ride in the dunes. Man what a blast! Rode most of the morning till I noticed my bike running hot. Oh well, parked it for the rest of the weekend and rode one of my buddy's 250R's, which ran great all weekend. Went on a night ride Friday night and discovered that we need light upgrades bad! Can't see over the dune once you get to the top which makes droping in really scary  as some of those dunes are really dam tall and steap as hell.

Went and hung out at Oldsmobile hill Friday night as Competition hill was closed at sunset. To many A-holes I guess, as it was there seemed to be about a dozen cops at the bottom of Oldsmobile hill writing tickets all night. It's sad how dumb some people are riping, wheeling and other stupid shi!t right next to crowds people. There going to ruin it for everybody.

Oh well, back to the fun! Satruday night we headed out on another night ride, man there a lot of fun when you go with a big group! :w00t: I was in a Super nice LS1 buggy as my buddy broke the frame on his Haybusa buggy and couldn't take that out. So, since my bike was down I rode in this LS1 buggy. DAM that thing was unbelieveable :w00t: power out the ass from this thing! We were on our way back over to Oldsmobile hill and we were bringing up the rear of the pack, we get close so we peel off and go play for a few minutes. We head straight up this dune and roll off to the right at the top :w00t: all the sudden the bottom drops out of the left rear corner OOOOHHHHH SSSSSHHHH!!!TTT we start falling down in this bowl and he tries to save it but it was just spinning like crazy throwing sand every where. We rolled over kind of backwards and then rolled over side ways and ended up on the roof, the car slide down upside down for a ways then slowly rolled back on it's wheels. Dam that was cool! We picked up all the parts that broke off and headed back to the rest of the group. Slapped it back together real quick good enough to drive back to camp. (Had one lame ass cop insisting on giving us a ticket for no tail light! left us alone after he his partner stepped in and told him we rolled.) In addition to all the busted body panels and other stuff we had dished the top bars on the roll cage.

So, the carnage for the weekend was a broken frame, trashed clutch, and shreaded stearing knuckle on the busa buggy, one over heating trike and one completely trashed $60k buggy. But dam it was a hell of a good time. I did feel bad about the LS1 buggy as it was it's first time out. But the guy that owned it was like " hey sh!t happens".

As for the trikes other than mine they preformed flawlessly. I had no trouble what so ever getting up and over any dunes I wanted and the 250R's ate up a 400ex and 660 Raptor in the dunes. When they'd start digging in and fall off a dune to try it again I'd just slip the clutch a little get back in the power band and go spinning on by! :w00t: Gotta love the 2 stroke power! It was a great time and if you've never rode the dunes you gotta try it. It's a dam good time.

I trouble shot my bike down to a faulty radiator cap (I think :wondering )that wasn't allowing the system to pressurize. So, I should be back up and running soon! :w00t:

Dude how did you go for a night ride Saturday night. We were freezing our butts off because the wind was SO cold and fast!! Some people in a rail even stopped by to borrow our campfire for a bit!! There was some awesome riding though Sunday morning after those 40 mph winds came through all night, thats for sure! Talk about fresh sand. We didn't have as much of an adventure as you, but we still had a great time nonetheless. Here are some pictures of our trip. We got out there Wednesday afternoon, didn't end up leaving until Sunday afternoon.
Sorry dialuppers.

azhondagrl,

Yeah, we froze our buts off to in that wind, but had to go out an ride! From the pic of that guy in the tent the wind looks vicious but it didn't seem that bad to me when we went riding. But we went early, about 7:00 came back about 9:30 cause of the rolled buggy. After that I headed back to El Centro and stayed in a hotel. Nothing like a shower after hanging around in all that dust all day.

Looks like you guys had a lot of fun too! Nice pics thanks for sharing!

dovesprings250r,

That busa buggy is like a two stroke compared to a 4 stroke bike. The V8 buggy's have a ton of gunt down low but that busa when wound up is like a great big kick in the ass! :w00t: It rev's to 11.5K rpms and is just explosive power, it rockets up the dunes and flies off the top. (that's how he broke the frame) With 18" of travel on both ends it soaks up the bumps really well.

Kasey,

I wish I'd have run into you out there I'd like to check out your 500r in person. I'm seriously looking into building one!

Man I love the night rides out on the dunes. If you haven't tried it you need to go on a night ride, just make sure you have enough light(s) hanging off the front of your trike. I'm going to put on a 200 watt stator with one flood light and one spot light.
