I have my suspended 200s frame on the way and I'm wanting to put a spare 200X front end on it. Since I don't have the steering stem bearings for either bike I want to just order an aftermarket tapered roller bearing kit for it. They list different bearing kits for a 200s and for a 200X, any one know which kit I would need? So basically I need to know which part of the bearing is different, the inside diameter or the outside diameter (on X vs S), hope that make sense.
If nothing else I can order the 200X kit since I will be needing that either way since I am also building a 200X, the thing that sucks about that is then my order will be less than $100 and I'll have to pay shipping for Dennis Kirk, then when I figure out which bearing I need I'll have to order another set and pay shipping again.

sounds nifty. Can you take pics of the suspension you did on rear and post them? I am interested myself in doing this!

See, I would go with a first gen. 250R front end so you can have the fat front tire and keep the old school look. Just a thought.

That is a very good idea but I already have the 200X front end. But I do also have a wide aluminum rim with a nice straight ribbed (not solid ribbing) front tire that would work well with the R front end. I have a spare SX front end I was thinking about using but it's not in very good shape and while it's an improvement over the 200s fork I think I want something a little better anyway. Maybe the 250R and 200X call for the same bearing kit, that would eliminate my problem. That's gonna add more cost to the project, but I do agree that would be the way to go, I'll look into it. Or does anyone have one for sale?

And I can post a pic when I get it, it's an aftermarket kit. I'm thinking I my reproduce a few of them once I have something to go off of for a pattern. I used to do custom metal fabrication and I still have the hook up for good deals on metal and access to equipment.

They are the same bearing kit. Look at Bike Bandit and the bearing parts are the same.

That's weird, here's the bearing kit that Dennis Kirk lists for the 200X

Here's the kit for the 200S, they show to be different.

Click on fitment as well. The 200X bearing fits most sport model ATC's, while the 200S bearing fits a lot of utilites and LOTS of older dirt bikes.

I would say take a caliper and check the Diamiter of the 200x front end neck (the shaft that goes though the neck that would be touching the bearings) and then look at a 200s and 200x frame neck next to each other and see if there is a difference between the seating points of the bearings if there is a difference in the seating points of the bearings and the diamiters are the same then i would have to say buy the 200s bearings, if they are different you may have to go to a bearing warehouse and find ones the fit.

That's probably what I will have to do, I was hoping someone here just knew the answer.

What do you guys think about using a 250SX front end instead? Reason for this is I'm sure I can find someone to trade for my 200X front end since this is a popular swap. I would rather have the 1st get R front end though, I started a post in the classifieds.

The 200x and 250sx pivot tubes are larger and longer than the 200s's. Also on the neck of the frame ( where the tube goes through ) is larger and taller on the 200x / 250sx. Solution to this problem? I don't have one ( Sorry ). I know someone posted not to long ago about doing a simular swap. I don't remember what he ended up with.

Interesting. My spare 200X front end is on a 200S right now but it's a mess I don't think it has bearings at all and the center nut is missing. I wonder if I can just swap that center tube out?
